Another thing if EBay accept your return for whatever circumstances then you will only get about a percent returned and I believe I read 50% but you can read the policy and check it yourself to make sure. After all the Authenticity Guarantee paid by EBay is NOT free…

I don’t think you can return that watch if has been thru the Authenticity Guarantee because it becomes FINAL SALE. Read the policy. Items that goes to Authenticity Guarantee and seller does not accept returns or if out the window of the sellers policy return then you are out of luck…

If you re-sell it. How would someone know you did not alter it ? Seems like you would need to get it "re-certified" any time you list it. Otherwise the authenticity can not be guaranteed.

It's an interesting concept - would they do this for all watches or only ones over a certain price point ?

so the seller will have a time frame to ship it to the authenticator correct? there's no way the seller can bypass this correct? I am still worry someone can imitate this and sell unreal stuff.

I picked up a watch that went through this process. It took about 15mins from receipt to authenticated. I received my watch with all boxes and papers. I bought it from WatchBox, which is very reputable to begin with. I had several exchanges before i agreed to purchase. WatchBox rep provided many high rez images upon request.. I've purchased other watches through Chrono24 and I think I prefer the ebay process over the escrow process of Chrono24.

Don't think I would use the eBay authenticity guarantee purchase, knowing that you could swap parts on the watch without removing the tamper proof seal, then return it . that's not what I call tamper proof.

How do you know they actually have someone qualified to authenticate or it could be someone whos trained for a few weeks before they start workin for ebay?

How about you try "selling a watch" to yourself or wifey or any of your close acquaintances and get authenticated thru Ebay process. That way, we can scrutinise the whole process more close

Aw man, isn’t half the fun of eBay being the potential to get hosed?! Naw kiddin man, this seems like a safer avenue. If I ever get over my $700 budget for a new watch I’ll give it a try.....future economic climate pending.

Buyer beware. If you want to return the watch the authenticator can say it wad damaged. This is happening to me right now. I never open the watch box to even look at the watch before returning it. They are claiming the watch was scratched and now I am stuck with it! It is safer to go to a AD or even Jomashop. I wouldn't trust the ebay authentication process ever again.

The eBay authenticity guarantee is total bullshit

Do you really think they'll do it for free? Nah. Is it "bulletproof" procedure? Nah. Can you bypass it in a(ny) step? Yeah. Is it pure [blue] bollocks (love brits for this word...lol)? Yeah. Will it take more time and effort and maybe complicate things? Yeah. Funny enough we try e-shopping but still want papers for everything. And that's the only good thing here, you get a piece of paper that may save the day. PS I love my pencils anyway, write on most surfaces, paper for sure... LOL
