you can bond it in position against the crank using a ribbon of loctite kintsuglue flexible putty, works very well, sets overnight to a hard rubber bond. magic stuff !!

Job well done. I remember making one of those hand vices when I started my apprenticeship in 1976 as a boilermaker/welder.

Hello, great informative video, took my Swytch Bike out yesterday for the first time, very pleased inicially, i had the motor on constantly with a full charge, after about 6 miles whil'st going up hill the motor would cut out intermittently and start again in a few seconds as in your video. Checked out the disk today, although it is not the most stable fixing you could have for the disk, in my case i don't think it is moving, i will put a white spot on it lined up with a mark on the peddal, that should tell if it is not continualy turning, i must have done about 12 miles with some steep hills and had to get up in some parts under my own power, the power pack was spent when i finished maybe i should just use it on the hills ? a bit disapointing, but time will tell.

eyup david i initially was interested in the swytch kit, but after a lot of research and a steep learning curve i decided on my diy version due to huge price difference. Hope you get sorted out ok. good luck ATB Kev

Thank You very much for the video. Please allow me a question ( even if I think you will not like it ). Is there a way to replace the magnet sensor from the pedal assist, with a linear potentiometer? I think you already now where am i going with this. Thank You again.

hi IL thanks for watching, i'm really not sure about what your proposing here. sorry i can't be of more help, if i could help i would. Hope you can find more info, just out of interest why are you wanting to do this, and what will the benifits be. Stay safe regards mr f

Reminds me of my involvement with a carbon fibre trike, where design elements did not durvive the real world. In my case it was with the Schlumpf unit where the clever Swiss engineers lost their grip on reality over serations that stopped the unit turning. They didn't admit anything but strangely the later parts were different.😉

hi chris, sounds interesting, i always thought the swiss inventions always ran like clockwork, may be even they now subcontract to china. stay safe regards mr f

I have a Rad unner plus only a year old. Sometimes the bike PEDALS ITSELF and I have to try to hold pedals from turning there is a CLANK and sometime chain tries to jump off the track. What do you think I should tell the bake shop to look at?
@MrFactotum2 жыл бұрын
Hi Rick I'm no expert, just self taught, but if the pedals are setting off on there own it could be a number of things, the controller, the motor, pedal assist sensor, or wiring shorting, i think its a matter of one thing at a time to eliminate / isolate the problem, very difficult to give a more precise answer with not being able to be hands on. Hope that helps take care and good luck Kev

I recently built and ebike and having trouble with my PAS. The one that came didn't work so bought 12 magnet easy slip around crank. Problem is wiring. I know black goes black. My PAS is yellow, brown, black and controller is red, blue, black so put BB, YR and BLBRW. Not sure wth when put black to black motor spins tire without pedal. When crank pedal sensor lights up but now power from battery. HELP. Is possible that this sensor not compatible? Is wiring incorrect?

hi maryann Its about a year since i applied my brain to the subject and Its hard to say without seeing it and physically testing it. The ones i used don't light up or flash in use. Ive heard people say and i have learned from experience that if your not using the amount of magnets your controller is set for it may work erratic, some controllers let you change this setting apparently, mine don't though, as for the wiring, there doesn't seem to be any colour coding wire standard in this industry. But the PAS is just a switch, the one i used has a hall sensor in it, and the magnets just switch it on and off as they pass by, then the controller works everything out from the pulses. The 3 wires what ever colour they are will have a negative (-ve) a live (+ve) not sure of the voltage off top of my head but i believe it to be about 5 volt, then the third wire is the switched positive that carries the pulse when switched by the hall sensor to the controller. Its just a matter of putting a simple cheap multi meter on the wires to check continuity and voltage to find out what wire is for what, sorrry i can't be more precise but is something that needs to be physically checked and looked at,. good luck regards mr f

When pedaling backwards the sensor is working, what do I do? is already correct the position of the disk, and sensor
@MrFactotum Жыл бұрын
hi ebikesbr all i can think of is the magnet ring is in wrong direction or magnet number is wrong for the controller, are all the magnets poles the correct way, maybe the wiring to the sensor wrong or faulty controller, it's hard to say with not being hands on, hope this helps.👍 regards mr f

Added a pas system that came with kit and it does not work. Any ideas as to why?
@MrFactotum2 жыл бұрын
check that the magnets are rotating concentric and equally about 3 mm from the sensor and that the magnet ring is not slipping on the crank. if thats ok check that there is 4v going to the sensor from the controller on the +ve wire, if thats ok then with the power on check the return signal wire while rotating the pedals if i'm remembering off top of my head there should be around a 2 volt reading returning back to the controller to tell the controller to send power to the motor, also check the negative wire for continuity, So thats all the 3 wires to check. if they all check out ok, it may be that it's the controller not functioning to tell the motor to spin. hope that helps regards
