This is such an important film to come out. To come up with the funds to raise to make the movie himself is amazing as hell, to not allow anyone to STOP him putting this movie out, very courageous and inspiring, I hope we can see others like this ... Marcus Garvey an example of one.

the part of the interview where the descendent's of Nat Turner's slave owners give Nat Turner tours & no $$ is given to Nat Turner's actual family tells u everything u need to know......i remember in the 8th grade being given a paper of all these inventions that african americans invented such as streetlights, gas mask, sugar processing machine, etc (google all this shit lol)....& maybe 6 years later I was looking at a streetlight & I thought to myself "does the black family of that black inventor that created a streetlight get residual checks? I don't think they do, we would've heard of them like u about the Trumps or the Hiltons."

This man owes nobody a explanation about his past . He was found not guilty in court and a lot of black man are being killed without a chance to be proven innocent. If you are a black person holding this over your his head shame on you . You praise the same white people who enslaved your ancestors. A lot of you have great grandparents with stories like Birth of A Nation. Don't be ignorant to bring up someone's past to blemish there accomplishments. Support the movie and the history they don't want to teach your black children about being strong and fighting back.

I can't wait to see "Birth Of A Nation".. F the critics... I'm a fan of "Nate Parker", his past is his past. The man was found not guilty of his previous convictions of many years ago. They tell minorities to respect and trust in our justice system... however it seems as if every time a man of color achieves any amount of success, it's extremely important to remind him of his dark past... EVEN if he is innocent.

I'm going to check this movie out, even though I'm tired of these slave type movies... The thing that matters is the message, it's not about NATE Parkers life
@kimberlimyrick23717 жыл бұрын
I hear a lot of folks talk about being tired of slave movies. I totally feel them but I was thinking, I'm thinking this day in age...I don't look at slave movies as demeaning. I actually see how strong we had to be at that time. Our people were separated from our families, humiliated, men embarrassed in front of their women and children...all this stuff is hard to see, but imagine how strong our people had to be to overcome that. I feel they had a strength that we forgot about. So sometimes, I'm like to we need to see more of these movies? LOl. We are so complacent now a days and forgot how bad it REALLY was. That's the only reason I see these movies as still being necessary!

this film will be a success, i don't know if it's necessarily NEEDED because even i... a young black man... knew about Nat Turner since i was like 12... what's more important is TODAY"S climate and how we are constantly feeding the fire... look at the trailer for that movie "Get Out".. it's like they want us to be paranoid, you can't let a wound heal if you keep picking at it.
@kimberlimyrick23717 жыл бұрын
I think people forgot how bad it was and we are completely complacent, which is why we are where we are. History is repeating itself. So I think we need to be reminded of how things really were!
@thatshot87 жыл бұрын
Kimberli Myrick i feel where both of you are coming from but in general people just need to just be more socially conscious of one another, even within our own community and things will only get better. even we live and rule based upon hierarchy, so it's almost contradictory to scream equality. i'll definitely support but i have become torn by my communities self serving actions.
