Al-Wahhab(The Giver of All)
Al-Wahhab is one of the most beautiful names of Allah. It derives from the root of "ve-he-be"(Grant). What it means is to give for free.
Al-Wahhab points out that the Almighty Allah has given a lot without expecting any reward. Al-Wahhab is used three times for Allah in the Qur'an:
"(They say) :Our Lord ! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth )after You have guided us,and grant us mercy from You .Truly,You are the Bestower(Al-Wahhab)."(3/Âl-i İmran, 8)
"Has the Reminder been sent down to him from among us ?Nay,but they have not tasted (My) Torment!Or have they the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord ,the All-Mighty,the Real-Bestower?"(38/Sâd, 8-9)
"He said: My Lord! Forgive me ,and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me .Verily, You are the Bestower (Al-Wahhab)."(38/Sâd, 35)
Al-Wahhab, which is mentioned three times as a name in the Qur'an, is more mentioned as verb . About twenty verses highlight what Allah grants/gives(ve-he-be).
The meaning of the name Al-Wahhab means Allah, who gives without waiting for any reward and rewards His servants with special gifts(blessings).
1. Manifestations Of The Name Al-Wahhab
Every blessing/beauty in man's life is a gift from Almighty Allah. It is impossible to count the blessings:
"And He gave you of all that you asked for,and if you count the Blessings of Allah ,never will you be able to count them.Verily,Man is indeed an extreme wrong-doer."(14/Ibrahim, 34)
a. Children's Grant
One of the greatest grants of Allah to his servants is the Giving of children to them. Allah (SWT) grants children to whomever he wills, as many as he wills, and as many (boy/girl) as he wills.
Allah(SWT)says:
"To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth.He creates what He wills.He bestows female (offspring) upoon whom He wills,and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills.Or He bestows both males and females ,and He renders barren whom He wills.Verily,He is the All-Knower and Able to do all things."(42/Şûrâ, 49-50)
b. Righteous Generation Grant
The child, a manifestation of the name Al-Wahhab, is the gift of Almighty Allah (SWT) to his servant. The main gift is that the children who have been given are righteous, and that they are made “eye light” by the expression of the Qur'an.
"And those who say :Our Lord!Bestow on us from our wives and our offspring who w,ll be the comfort of our eyes ,and make us leaders for the Muttaqun."(25/Furqân, 74)
c. Blessing To Be Envied: Privileged Grant
Every blessing given to man is a grant from Almighty Allah. However, the blessing given to some of the Almighty Allah, the name of al-Wahhab is found in the special manifestation.
"Only two things are envied-the greatest of all things to be envied-that Allah has given wealth to one, and has made it a blessing to spend what he has given for the sake of truth(Allah). Allah has given wisdom/knowledge to a man. He judges between it and the people, and teaches the people the wisdom/knowledge that Allah has given them."(Bukhari, Muslim)
d. Grant Of Persistence On the Truth Path
One of the greatest grants of Allah, is undoubtedly guidance. Only by His guidance can man emerge from darkness to light, from the gloom of the soul to piety, and from his punishment to his mercy.
"And surely,We have created many of the jinns and mankind for Hell.They hearts wherewith they understand not,they have eyes wherewith thwy see not,and they have ears wherewith they hear not,(the truth).They are like cattle ,nay even more astray;those!They are the heedless ones."(7/A’râf, 179)
e. Good Helper ( Grant/Blessing)
With the name Al-Wahhab ,One of the gifts of Allah (SWT) to the believers is that he grants a good helper when he places him in charge. The Messengers understood the magnitude of this blessing, so they asked him for help in their affairs.:
"And appoint for me a helper from my family."(20/Tâhâ, 29)
"And my brother Aron he is more eloquent in speech than me so send him with me as a helper to confirm me.Verily,I fear that they will belie me."(28/Qasas, 34)
f. Provision (Hukm) Grant
Allah (SWT) wants believers to rule(inheritors) the Earth and establish a caliphate there by His provisions:
"And We wished to do a favour to those who were weak (and oppressed ) in the land ,and to make them rulers and to make them the inheritors."
(28/Qasas, 5)
