Your comment becomes trivial when you don't include "I think...". Whilst I am not criticising your preference, you cannot justifiably make your claim because you cannot possibly have heard every other singer. There are numerous singers from early in the 20th century who in my opinion outshine most of today's singers. I am not a Callas fanatic but I have to say her singing of "Vissi d'arte" along with Leontyne Pryce are unsurpassed to my ear.

I’m actually astonished..If you are not proud of this unique artist that has one of the most beautiful and recognizable voices in Opera of this century thus far and that is probably one of the very very few sopranos of her generation to be remembered for ever as one of the best Violetta, Tosca, Magda, Adriana or Mimi in history(!), then I guess you are just a lost cause. I have listened to her many times at The Met, La Scala, London, Paris, Berlin and elsewhere and never had any problem hearing her in the opera houses, so my opinion is based on actual experiences, whereas your comment about amplifiers was just rude and uncalled for. Moreover, there is much more besides volume when it comes to a voice, but unfortunately people nowadays think that in Opera the louder the voice, the better..which si wrong on so many levels. If you are frustrated of someone’s success, it speaks “volumes” about you :) and no one else. To each his own. I am aware that art is subjective but I thought that one should have an opinion based on own experiences and supported by facts, rather than just writing dotish comments without any reason and without any argument.

This is what Maria Callas sent when she sang this famous aria, and this is what great Angela Gheorghiu did and does when she sings this aria!!! She IS TOSCA. Especially at 2:51 and also at 3:19 Angela give us some very very rare top moments of human singing.

Amplifiers, don't let yourself be fooled, people that heard her live in Tosca said she is inaudable.

I think Callas is overrated. She was very good, but tonally there are several sopranos who are superior in my opinion, including this one.
