Let's talk about this Echo CS-8000P chainsaw that came in with ignition issues and how we found the right way to fix it. Also, let's have a little look at a Stihl 070 clone saw we put together this week!

I bought the 800P right before they discontinued it. It is a very heavy saw actually heavier then my Stihl 661 but the Echo like you said is very old school built like a tank and performs like an old saw.

I bought a brand new echo cs-8000 and have a similar problems. Mine would run for 10 mins and cut off and wouldn't start back. I took it to the echo dealer where I bought it. They put a new cylinder and piston in it and gave it back to me with the same problems. I argue with them about it but nothing came from it. I started checking things when it shut off and noticed if I took the hose off the carburetor no fuel would run out so I flipped the saw on its side the fuel would run out the hose again. I'd put it back on and it would run again for 10 mins. I've never been able to fix it. I bought it 5 years or so ago definitely not older like the one you worked on

Seen a few cracks in flywheel and wrong replacement parts Reason to keep used known parts around

Brother in law and myself had this issue with a Dolmar 5105. I had a 5100, and we couldn't get the 5100 coil to run on his 5105. Same symptoms as your 8000p. I don't know why manufacturers change parts that render things incompatible. As a dick that designs parts for a living, I always try to make stuff forward and backward compatible, or obviously incompatible.

Sure, I understand that, but they were typically using the P designation back then that I am aware of

@@TraverseCreekInc but not all of the ECHO saws have a P to the best of my understanding.

@@ToddAdams1234 That's correct, the P designation really started being used in modern times for professional models. This one is quite old

@@TraverseCreekInc I understand the delima. I have ZERO idea in that case. 😕 I’m interested to hear how it turns out though. I’m just wanting my CS550P to turn out correctly because I’m having an issue getting it tuned. On the high side it either runs lean and screems or it’s rich. I can’t find that sweet spot. Now I can’t get it to start. 😢 Sooner or later I’ll get it running but I think it’s probably got a “slight” air leak, but it doesn’t take much to F!(; it up. DAMN!!!!
