The CS-4910 is a great saw at a great price! Echo is making some big moves with their equipment and it is really paying off for them.

Echo has made some big strides in the past 3 years or so with their saws and leaf blowers. The CS-7310 is a beast of a saw for a great price compared to other of it's size. And the PB-9010 is the new big bad wolf of backpack leaf blowers.

My 4910 I grabbed because lot of dealers didnt have. I bot 2 saws that day. I tried the 3510 snd it uses 91vp low pro chain but bad little saw.

I cud care less about captured nuts. If you cant handle those nuts. Dont use saw.

They should be reaching your dealers VERY soon if they haven't already. Make sure to ask your local dealer about it because it might be a situation where they don't want to put it on display until they sell out of their CS490 inventory.

For what it’s worth, the 4510 uses a strat engine.

Does the Shindaiwa 494 saw - apparently the same as 4910 according to specs - come with the Shindaiwa 501sx carb?

Thanks for having thorough quality information for people to make an informed decision on things keep up the great work bro I'll keep tuning in for sure , I'm about to buy myself A shindaiwa 731(echo7310) for myself for my birthday and id love to you do some part for part comparison on the shindaiwas vs echos just to see if they really are the same saws with different colored shirts on

Oh and one more thing he said is that like the 591 being a limited or governed engine the 501 is ungoverned or limited which is a large part of it's higher power I have both the 501p and 620 but I'm thinking about grabbing a 4910 to replace my little husky that I use for limbing and storm cleanup cause the price is amazing and the power it has makes it much more versatile than my lil husky in that I could use the 4910 to handle much larger wood if it was the only saw I brought with me. One other question I had is whats your opinion on jonsered/red max vs husqvarna cause I have a jred 2172 which is supposed to be the same engine as the 372 xp xtorq all I can say on the matter is that I've used the 372 xtorq side by side with it and the jred just feel way more comfortable for me than the 372

So revisiting this a few months later I’d like to admit I was wrong the 4910 and 501p are the same saw the only difference is the 4910 has a plastic handle this has been confirmed by two separate mechanics that have ported multiple of both models

I second this. My understanding was that compared to the cs490 the cs501p has better porting, less restrictive muffler, and unlimited ignition coil. Very similar to the difference between the CS590 and the CS620p although I believe the 620p runs a two ring piston and a larger venturi carb compared to cs590.

The CS-490 uses a different cylinder than the CS-501P and the new CS-4910 so it does not have the same fuel requirements.

The 490,4910,590,620p,7310p all have an “open can”muffler although the outlet on some models is very restricted(especially the 490). The 490,4910, and 501p have a removable restrictor baffle that can be taken out with the 2 screws that hold the deflector on.

The CS-4910 is an excellent value! I think that it will cause a slight drop in CS-501P sales, but I think it's bigger impact will be in the amount of upsales from CS-4510 saws. The gap in power and performance is now a lot bigger than it was between the CS-4510 and the CS-490.

Yep, something like that. It's a smart move on Echo's part because the more parts that the saws have in common the lower they can keep the MSRP.

600P was just a 590 with a rim sprocket and aluminum handle, mechanically they were the same. Where as the 620P has different cylinder porting, ignition, and a larger carb.

Yeah that was another smart move by Echo to really help their customers and themselves. We keep saying that Echo is making a lot of great moves with their equipment. They have the promotion going on right now with the consumer products where you get the pair of $20 clippers for free, and the the 1 Day Sales Event for a lot of dealers. All of this at a time when a lot of other manufacturers are struggling to even get product to dealers and have no promotions going on. Another big move by Echo to steal market share from Husqvarna/Redmax, and Stihl

@@EshlemaniaTV yes, smart. I put my Stihl homeowner saw for sale on Offerup, sold less than 1 day. took the cash to echo dealer and upgraded to pro model. Sold all my Stihl and Husky through the years to fund new equipment from echo/shindawia one day sale. used to be 20%, now its 15% sale

You are correct that the CS-490 is a 50 cc saw. We were going to talk about how the CS490 is a 50 cc saw, but not the same engine because it has a different cylinder assy than the CS501 and the new CS4910. We decided not to elaborate on that and it wasn't til the video was posted that it was realized that part was not elaborated on.

Those are good features to have for sure. That aluminum handle with the rubber over wrap will take out more vibration than the plastic one. On a side note for anyone that's wondering, it costs less than $100 to add the aluminum handle and captured bar nuts to the CS-4910.

But how much for the aluminum handle, the coil, and the better bar?

The anti vibration springs are the same between the C-501P and the CS-4910. The big difference is that the CS-501P has an aluminum front handle with a rubber overlay while the CS-4910 has a plastic front handle with no rubber overlay. The front handle is part of the anti vibration system and although the plastic handle on the CS-4910 works well, the aluminum handle with the rubber overlay just works better at deadening the vibrations from the saws engine.

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it is an error of mine because I'm not English, but when I read "spring" I understand a metal "roll" and not a rubber shock absorber. I would like that Echo will use the same type of antivibration system that Husqvarna, Stihl, Dolmar etc started to use many years ago. The differences between a metal spring and a rubber absorber is tangibile when you use the chainsaw many hours a day like I did when I worked as lumberjack. So, have I understood wrong or is there a mistake from Echo on the site?

X series are best in class saws, as in comparison to other saws in the same class, for value, price, specs, etc. So the 501P is considered best in class compared to the husky 550xp, stihl 261c, makita EA5000/DCS5121(dolmar saws) for being the lightest saw in its class.

The 1 day sale is next week at the local shop so i'm definitely getting the 501p

Not sure, but would not be surprised if they do not come out with something to replace the CS501P since they are revamping quite a few other saws in their line up. But then again, Husqvarna has multiple 50 cc saws in their line up at various prices and they keep selling. So I guess only time will tell.

i agree, i wish the 501p had the 7310 air filter. almost bought 7310 for that reason alone, just too heavy for my uses on my property.

@@EshlemaniaTV Thank you, I was thinking the same. My Brother in law lives-breaths GMC, John Deere and Stihl. Although he currently runs a Stihl 440 and burns wood all year. His version is probably better then the current crop of machines.

Don't do it. I made the mistake of buying the ms-250 when it was on sale last year. At the time I only compared it to the ms-271. 45cc vs 50cc for $100 less seemed like a bargain. I wanted the ms-261 for it's power to weight but couldn't justify the price for mostly just a firewood saw. Unfortunately, Echo wasn't even on my radar. It seems a lot of people are still stuck on the Stihl vs Husqvarna bandwagon. The "starting issues" with the 250 is a non issue if people just quit flooding it. 5 pulls max on full choke no matter what. I learned the hard way too. The saw is weak and not a good value when you compare it to the Echo lineup however. I bought the ms250 local for $300. Then there's additional cost for replacing the slow safety chain. $30 each for rs. Buy 2 get 1 free. Add in the cost for all the overpriced oils to get the warranty extended plus tax, you're close to $400. For perspective, I bought my CS-590 Timberwolf 24" bar online from sawsuppliers with a discount code from the chainsaw shack for well under $400 shipped to my door & they threw in a bunch of nice Echo swag. It has 60cc vs 45cc, metal case vs plastic clamshell, includes the long warranty, & comes with Oregon powermatch chain. It's an absolute beast compared to the ms-250. It pulls that 24" with authority while the Stihl struggles with it's 18" The 590 cuts way faster, feels a boatload stronger, and keeps me from having to bend over all the time. They're not even in the same class, yet the CS-590 doesn't really cost but a few dollars more when you put everything into perspective. Echo really has a "prosumer" line with the 4910 and 590 that has no competition. They reverse engineered their pro saws without taking much away from build quality. I will say, I like the Stihl flip caps and would like Echo to move to a pleated automotive style air filter across the line like what the ms-271 has or better yet, the 7310p, but the ms250 air filter is even worse. It's garbage. Having a rim sprocket instead of the spur sprocket on the Timberwolf would have been nice too though it's been a non issue except once when it threw the chain while I was working on a stump that had grown into some fence.

@@Jeremy_810 Thanks for the info. My wife had already purchased the Stihl in November for a Christmas gift. Took it back today to the dealer! Getting the 4910 next week. Looking forward to it. I looked at it a couple days ago, feels much better in hand then the Stihl. The CS-590, even though only a few dollars more, its heavier and likely more machine than I need or want to carry around. Who knows, the Echo dealer likes that 590 and could easily talk me into it! One of them is coming home.

@@kentheis105 The 4910 is the best value in the 50cc class. Not to mention that it has a magnesium pro style case instead of the plastic clamshell that you get with a Stihl or Husky. I bought a 501p 2 years ago but I would have chosen the 4910 if it had been available. I decided against the 590/620p because they weigh 3 pounds more. Just depends what you need it for. I just use mine for storm cleanup. All awesome saws and better build quality for the money.

490 - 2.9hp 4910 - 3.3hp 501P - 3.5hp

The 501 weighs .2 lbs more than the 4910. Probably all in the aluminum handle on the 501 vs plastic handle on the 4910

Part numbers also change when they come out with an improved version of an existing part.

In the case of the 4910 to the 501, this isn't the case. Both have magnesium cases. Everything is the same on the 501 vs 4910 except the coil, the plastic vs aluminum front handles, the rubber rear handle cover and the color of the two side covers. That's really it.
