I’ve got the Stihl. Love it. Got an extra 20 battery, which runs longer. It is so light and easy to handle I actually enjoy using it. Far more user friendly and convenient than gas. Plenty of power for my 1/4 acre lot with lots of trimming to do.

The Echo does look a lot powerful handsdown. But I personally favor the STINHL because its light and really takes pressure of my back. Its quiet and thats a plus for me. I's also adjustable for a short or tall person. Though its not as powerful as the ECHO, its enough power I need for my for my back and front yard.

The fold down wire guard on the Stihl is for trimming around FLOWERS so you don't cut them off by accident---NOTHING to do with Edging.

For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. kzfaq.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

The Echo is obviously much more powerful but at 14 pounds you may as well have a gas trimmer.

No need to mix and go buy gas so I would definitely keep the battery model anytime, no odor, no vapor, no carburetor to service if the diaphragm dried and no longer pump the gas to the engine, no maintenance, etc. No brainer for me.

The Stihl is more for residential use. It is also a lot lighter especially if you have a bad back. For professional use the Echo wins hands down. But for my use as a homeowner I would choose the Stihl because it is a lot lighter and will do all I need to do in my yard. Kind of a unfair comparison, because the Echo is more heavy duty professional trimmer

not a very fair comparison. the stihl is a more consumer level unit. a comparison between the fsa 90 R would make more sense. actually a fair comparison would be the fsa 130 R because the echo is very powerful on high mode.
@johnmorgan8075
@johnmorgan8075 3 жыл бұрын
It is a pretty fair comparison when you look at price. It’s the closest Stihl model. The fsa 57 is 200 bucks compared to the echo at 269. The stihl fsa 90 that you refer to is 600 bucks.

@@johnmorgan8075 you got a point there, and that seems to be the case across all their products, stihl's fs 240 r goes for a hulking $630 whereas echo's srm-3020T goes for $430. Even their new srm-410X is less! Goes for $550. I have had an srm-225 since 2011 and its still going strong so echo in my experience is a very solid name.

Thanks for the demo. I think I will stick with my gassers. I am definitely impressed with the power of the echo though. The things I look for in a trimmer is durability, power, weight and run time. Well if a battery unit I would be looking at how safe the battery and charging it would be. Don't want my shed going up in smoke.

The video shows quite clearly which one is the better one. I am 6 foot 7 inches tall (2.00 meters). Why is nobody talking about usability for tall people (even taller than me). And I mean give a height what people can use what machine. I know it's not your job to do that. The manufacturers should do that, but they don't. So it's only through channels like yours that I can find this out. I hope you can help me.

Mike I might have missed the information about the batteries that come with these two trimmers. Do both companies provide Battery Chargers with your purchase of a Trimmer. Do they both come to full charge in about the same time. How easy is it to reload the Trimmer Spools with new line, are they both Tap and go systems to advance new line.?How many months do the warranties last on these two trimmers.?

I have used Stihl chainsaws my whole life and considered myself a fan. I was sick of dealing with small engine issues due to corn syrup in gas. Never had an issue with Stihl saws (assume due to conditioners in Stihl 2-stroke oil mix), but did have issues with my non-Stihl pressure washer (Honda) and homelite leaf blower. So, I thought I would give the Stihl FSA 57 a try. It works, but compared to a gas powered trimmer it feels kinda gutless. I still have the FSA 57 Stihl as my only weed eater/wacker and I use it, but I find myself getting a little impatient with it as I feel I have to go over an area twice. It feels a bit short (the pole) and I feel like the guard is too close to the mower wheel and therefore the cutting thread/line/string never feels quite long enough. I don’t think I would buy this Stihl model again. For a small yard for a few quick zips around a quarter acre city lot it may be enough. But for an acre and a half with fruit trees, blueberry bushes, side walks and work to do around raised garden beds it lacks the extra power I want.

I have the Echo trimmer and while it is has been a good machine the battery is completely dead, won’t accept a charge. Replacement battery is so expensive that I will toss the trimmer out. I bought a Stihl battery mower and will be buying their trimmer. Replacement batteries for the Stihl are much more reasonably priced.

I bought a Stihl and found that the brass grommet where the string comes out wears through in about 30 days. The head can be replaced for about $36.00 but very poor quality. A cheap Black and Decker I used before on my property, this grommet lasted about 18 months.

Done commercial and residentials for over 25 years have used both still and echo products as well as a few others I prefer still for blowers and chainsaws and small handheld blowers then the echo small handheld blower having them side by side and using them Deco seems heavier and doesn't seem to have as much volume at the pipe maybe because of the diameter but the echo blower handheld just doesn't seem to hold up as long as the stills I prefer ECHO line trimmers, for the price point I've had still four strokes which I really didn't care for as well as Hondas the Honda four-stroke line trimmer is 14 lb that thing is a boat anchor to carry around all day long so if that echo electric trimmer is 14 lb it's a big no for me as well as the batteries puking out any expense of the battery especially when you only get a couple seasons if that even with light use and since I've been rebuilding and repairing 2-stroke dirt bikes since I was 12 and started racing at 9: so I do all my own repairs I even do a little porting and polishing as well as a few other little tweaks to gain a little extra power something you really can't do with that electric weed eater and or if that electric motor blows out or bearings to be replaced shafts and the whatnot I think I'll stick with gas power for ease of maintenance and rebuilding since I do actually put rings in my weed eaters that are very inexpensive if and when need be to get another season or two out of it I'm sure the battery powered stuff will get a little better eventually but it's funny like the Husqvarna Roomba looking outdoor mower that little robot mower if it hits a dog dip where he's dug out the ground that thing gets stuck if it runs over a soft serve dog Patty it'll sit there and spend its little plastic wheels but they praise these little mowers even though it won't cut tall Grass the crass has to be cut short one time at least before you can use their little electric lawn mower Roomba gimmick which doesn't work in the rainy seasons in Florida cuz it rains morning noon and night so hopefully their weatherproof LOL

Echo 58v cordless equipment is made by TTi in China (TTi makes Ryobi and Milwaukee gear). Do not buy the 58V line as it has been discontinued by Echo. The Echo 58v tools are great, but the batteries are horrible as they simply don't last and are outrageously expensive to replace.
@TheRacerRich
@TheRacerRich 2 жыл бұрын
@@sailenthusiast8007 I ended up getting the Echo 56V. The tool itself says Asembled in USA (which doesn't mean a lot actually), but the charger and battery are Made in China. The performance is good, but the build quality doesn't feel nearly as good as the Stihl. I wish I had gone for the Stihl, but their disallowing online sales combined with their dealer network being so bad (at least around here, it's mostly Ace Hardwares) made it too difficult to buy one.

Are you sure ? Name the country please. If talk about LT/Europe - its ~ 40 Eur difference (with same battery), assuming the fact ECHO is 58 V, Stihl - 36V. I do have more poweful Stihl battery (AK 30, for my chain saw) but I refused the idea to buy FSA 57 as for me its too little power, too small cutting swath. I need at least FSA 85 or FSA 90R for my need but prices are killing me - additionally they are not compatible with AK line (its AP) so I need to pay full price to get sufficient set for work.
