it’s a bit odd how people read that kiss between bella and jacob as a manipulation on bella’s part. i think the movie doesn’t emphasize enough that jacob was quite literally threatening to go get himself killed on purpose if she didn’t admit her feelings for him in that moment. he pulled a “tell me you love me or i’ll literally kms” bc he was upset about their engagement & bella was panicking, but it doesn’t compute for most people when they watch this 😭

However I think y’all missed something, cause Jacob was the biggest manipulator in this situation. He has to carry Bella through the woods where he knows she can’t just get down and walk off, and then he says the “promised I wouldn’t till you asked.” And then he has this whole standoff with Edward in the tent while Bella is basically dying. Then he overhears Edward and Bella, and that was Edward’s fault, he knew Jacob could hear. Now where this becomes full Jacob manipulating Bella is, he hears this info and immediately threatens to go get himself killed in battle. He then forces Bella to beg for his life, so she does, not because she’s in love with him, but because she didn’t want him to die. Jacob refuses all begs she throws out, so Bella says the one thing Jacob was just WAITING to hear. And he accepts the invite knowing this girl just got engaged. He’s literally a child and manipulator. In the book she goes and lays face down in the tent in pure guilt, knowing Edward heard, and asks to be killed in her head. Lol. Anyways, I’m sorry for the essay, but this was NOT on Bella. It was the boys being 5years old. Loving the reaction so far! Thank you for sharing!🫶🏻

The fact that Jacob knows he could possibly imprint on someone and could kick Bella to the curb, yet still trying to get her to pick him. That sucks and is so selfish.

Edward treats Bella like an Edwardian era man would his lady. Very protective. In His day men took care of issues and problems. So its not that he lies so much as he is just doing what he was brought up to do as a gentleman of that time. If you look at it through that lens it makes more sense. I don't like how Jacob ignores Bella when she says she loves Edward. He never respects her in her decisions while Edward would let her go if she chose Jacob because he wants her happy and safe above all else. Bella grew up taking care of her mom who is kind of flighty. She naturally tries to take care of everyone and doesn't want anyone sad or hurt. She is a bit frustrating that way but I get it.

The scene when Bella kisses Jacob is so much better explained in the books. For those who have never read them 🤓🫡 After Jacob forces that kiss on Bella and she punches him, Jacob tells Edward that he's not going to stop fighting for her to which Edward replies that he neither, and says he won't be fighting by the rules, so there's this "gentlemen" agreement between them that the strongest shall win. So, they just both begin manipulating the hell out of Bella: Edward mentions marriage on purpose and Jacob guilt trips Bella into begging him to kiss her. After that, it's not just "I love him, but I love you more", Edward actually says that when he took off last time he "left her bleeding", and Jacob stitched her up, so he understands that she developed some feelings for Jacob. The last bit is actually in the deleted scenes.

The losing soul as a vampire isn't Bella's beliefs. That's Edward & Carlisle's beliefs, so that's unrelated to her. She doesn't want to get married being that she's a child of divorced parents, and being a vampire is more about herself than Edward, who was thinking that she only wanted to be a vampire to be with him when it's actually more than that for her...

I saw this Edward-Jacob moment in the movies ....and ran to the books cuz i knew there would be more of this in books. Totally wasn't disappointed. Edward-Jacob moments in books are gold. So are Edward-Seth and Jacob-Seth ones. Love it.

The story of alice before this series was also so interesting from her having premonitions when she was young and people thinking that she was a witch who was cursing others to finding out that his father killed his mother along with his new partner to then being sent to an asylum by her father to hide his crime to then befriending a vampire in that asylum who changed her into a vampire to save her from James (the villian of the first movie) to then her finding jasper in a restaurant and them going to the cullen family. Most of her story happens before this series.

I love the twilight movies, I know the relationship is toxic and is definitely NOT what you want in real life but in the vampire-werewolf-love-triangle universe of the books and movies he's the best out of the choices. I also think nostalgia helps it along because I've been around the story since I was 8 in 2010, so it's been a core memory for me for such a long time that I cannot possibly dislike the movies, I love watching other people enjoy watching it though I do hate when people don't let the movies speak for themselves and instead come in with preconceived notions that they don't allow to change while watching. I do have to say with you guys talking about how awkward Kristen Stewart is playing bella and I have to say that this is totally the books fault not Kristen's, she's doing the absolute best portraying bella as book accurate as possible, she's just an awkward being. also the author is Mormon not catholic which influences the story a lot, it is a pretty big difference in religions because she portrays the volturi with more catholic imagery in the books which means she portrays them as bad guys. it made me giggle when you mentioned their catholic ideals when they're the opposite of what Meyer was going for the next movie, breaking dawn part 1, is my favourite out of the bunch but this one always holds a place in my heart

at the nighttime mountains scene. edward knows bella is listening because he knows she tends to talk in her sleep and she isnt doing that. but he doesnt care if she was listening or not. but after a while he is like sleep jacob and starts humming but that song is actually a lullaby he usually sang for bella so that she will finally sleep and not hear more of what she didnt need to. and on jasper's training, the wolves stay in that form and not human because there is telepathic communication in the same pack. they can hear each other without having to speak, so it improves their strategic planning a lot better . ofc they lose that skill if the leave/ get kicked out of the pack, the way jacob stopped hearing sam (the alpha) altogether when he decided he was NOT following him to destroy cullens in breaking dawn, and with seth and leah leaving to join jacob's pack as well, the three can hear each other and not their old pack. but alphas can telepathically communicate, except now they are in different pack, all their thoughts arent heard. the only thing they hear is what the other wants to be said, kinda like talking.

I actually love reliving this movie with you guys cus i can appreciate it more like this. On its own it was a little cringe to watch. But i do agree that i think Edward is a better, more mature person than both Bella and Jacob. And Kristen is just like me haha. I love both Jasper and Alice and wish we could've seen their story more. And I'm definitely anti Bella. She's just so selfish.

So, in the book, it's made clear that it's Jacob trying to manipulate Bella in their last kiss scene. He was basically saying that if she didn't tell him there was hope, he would let himself get killed in the fight. He flat out says in the book that she knows what to ask him in order to make him come back. That's when she asks him to kiss her. When they're talking in his room after the fight, in the book, he gets upset that Edward didn't get mad at her for kissing him. He says he was counting on that.

Agreed with what you said about prequels. There are so many backstories, lores, side characters, other chemistries, possible storylines, etc. much more interesting than Edward, Jacob, Bella (honestly, I think they are what people hate about Twilight 💁‍♀️)

Ok before you move forward in the series I need to bring up something that I’ve seen a lot of movie only reactors struggle with. Imprinting. You can’t choose who you imprint on and it’s not something that can randomly occur. It happens the first time you see the person after you become a wolf. So if Jake did imprint on Bella it would have happened the first time he saw her after he got “sick” at the movies. But he didn’t, so he won’t imprint all of the sudden. The vampire powers come from some part their human personality being amplified. Some result in powers, some don’t. So Edward was really good at reading people, so he could read minds. Alice had some precognitive traits, so now she can see the future, etc. Also, I know you said you love the background stories and we do know all of the main families but it was included in the movies. Carlisle was the son of a priest about 300 years ago. His father lead vampire hunts but was largely incorrect in identifying them. Carlisle did find a real one and the vampire bit him while being hunted and got distracted so left Carlisle to change instead of draining him. Once he woke up he hated what he was so he tried to kill himself/starve himself so that he wouldn’t have to kill people. When he found he could live on animals he was so happy. He has been eating animals for so long he doesn’t know Ben really notice the smell of human blood anymore, hence his ability to be a dr. Esme lost a baby and was so sad she jumped off a cliff. Her spine was broken and she was so close to death they brought her straight to the morgue. Carlisle instantly knew she was her mate and changed her. Emmet was attacked by a bear. Rosalie found him while hunting and killed the bear and carried him 200 miles home so Carlisle could change him for her. She has killed people (Royce’s friends/royce) but never tasted human blood and didn’t think she could not kill Emmet if she tried. He had dimples that reminded her of her friends baby when she was human and she couldn’t stand to see him die. Once he was changed she got to know him and he was everything she didn’t know she needed in a partner. Alice didn’t really remember her human life at all. She just woke up, alone, and had visions of finding Jasper and eventually the Cullens. She just knew to drink animal blood because of her visions. When Bella was at the ballet studio, James revealed that the only other time he had such a good hunt was when a vampire turned his human friend before James could get her. Alice was that human. She had been locked in an insane asylum because she had visions. She knew her step mother and father had killed her mother and tried to turn them in. She was kept mainly in the dark and probably had shock treatments. Her name was Mary Alice Brandon. There was an old vampire who worked there and he took a liking to her. Just like with Bella, James found it interesting that he defended a human and tried to hunt her. I hope you liked those back stories. You should also watch the new voices of twilight videos if you like that. It was a fan contest where people could submit damage short films about other characters in the twilight universe. They are all really good. There are a few about Alice in the asylum, one about Jane and her brother’s origin. My favorite is about Alice meeting Jasper for the first time. There are others as well!
