Every week, Eco India brings you stories that inspire you to build a cleaner, greener and better tomorrow. Our top story this week looks at how Bengaluru became a hub for electric vehicles. In 2008, the city has seen a 10% year-on-year increase in the number of registered motor vehicles, outpacing even its population growth.

The only way forward is nuclear .solar panels are expensive and it's manufacturing I.e to get about 99% Si purity requires you to consume more carbon.

I see nuclear as challenge given that uranium comes from outside and have foreign policy implications and challenges. The best way can be thorium nuclear plants . I don't know what happened to india ,even have largest deposit and prolonged research we could not capitalise technology for use. China did it!

If you have conventional scooter or bike, it may not be beneficial as much as you think to buy EV based on the fact that manufacturing is highest contributor for emissions. The better thing might be to use namma metro or rent EV. And if you are going to travel once in a week or so, might as well keep on using existing bike or scooter. This is based on few videos I have come across also tv series like "Adam Ruins Everything". It would be much better though if there was conversion kit but there doesn't seem to be one, at least not available readily.

Charzer is very brilliant idea. In the day time it will be a game changer but in the night when all the shops are closed its a concern (if those chargers are made useable in night then it is fine as it costs 3k people might try to steal it if is not protected). Now the electric vehicles have started to give 100+ km range so daily commute within city is a breeze with less tension. Hybrid vehicle concept is brilliant too. If with petrol we get a range of 40-50km in case of emergency then it is just too good

Petrol diesel can be used,because of newly produced Xtra green diesel, XP 95 petrol,M15 gasoline,E 20 gasoline etc,which gives less carbon emitions and the black smog does not appear and the combustion is better... But there is not being properly implemented to all over india,only in a few parts of india!!??? And the vehicles should have to be enabled with E20 fuel and M15 gasoline!!!

As correctly said in the video, I think the problem in the future will be to identify alternative renewable energy source which has more or atleast the same abundance, economical viability and efficiency as like coal and thermal power station. Until and unless we will be using electricity in EV vehicles from coal-powered thermal stations, it cannot be considered as eco-friendly.

@donupadhyay1555
@donupadhyay1555 2 жыл бұрын
Ok so your logic is that if electricity made by coal is not environment friendly let me tell you we made electric by coal which is genrate CO2 emissions is correct but if we use electric vehicles it will reduse carbon emissions (not finishing) but it will help the nature to cope up with climate change and later we have also switch to solar energy for electric generation we need to take right path to achieve CO2 emissions free world and electrical vehicle are the first right step in this direction

For god's sake please, please try to look at the problem from a systems design perspective. Though you can't see the smoke coming out of the electric vehicle, it is still causing more pollution in manufacturing the batteries, charging the batteries. True innovation is required at different levels. 52.6% of electricity in India gets generated via coal plants, which reaches the citie's grid and then your home. Lithium, lead, cadmium are the common materials used in manufacturing batteries that become toxic for disposal after usage. Unless and until we address these problems and focus on these most fundamental issues, we can't develop genuinely green technology. So please understand the broader picture and don't get carried away on the bandwagon.
