Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If you're into being off-grid and boondocking or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. I have an EcoFlow Delta 2 Max, and set up my 2 EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Solar Panels on top of emergency Mylar blankets & it works great. I layout the Mylar blankets, secure them down on the grass with wooden strips on all of the ends, then place the EcoFlow 220W Bifacial panels on top.
@bdmenne
@bdmenne Ай бұрын
You lay then flat on the Mylar or do you you have space between panels and the Mylar?
@bsylvia1
@bsylvia1 Ай бұрын
@@bdmenne The solar panels are set up the same as if they were on dirt or grass, except the Mylar blanket is laid out flat over the grass or dirt, with the panels sitting on top. I only use wooden strips to prevent the breeze or wind from blowing under the Mylar edges, or the entire blanket & potentially ripping the blanket since Mylar isn’t the sturdiest material. I hope that answers your question.

I think I really want to get one of these to run with one of those eco-flo Wave 2 heat pump unit for a really efficient Heating and Cooling setup in a small cargo trailer. The only things I really want that are going to take much power is a Wave 2 and a compressor fridge (perhaps a Glacier). For the price point in functionality this seems to be about the highest solar charge rate for such high-quality output and then around home it would be a great backup when the power goes out since I would mostly just want to run the furnace through the night and during the daytime use some appliances while I'm charging it with with solar or a generator if I don't have a big enough solar setup when I use it up

Hello Michael, this is the Delta 2 Max and it just came out a few days ago. The main difference is the rate of charge. EcoFlow makes good stuff. They're heavy for sure and I get Linda to help me carry. EcoFlow makes a combination AC/heater that seems to be working out pretty well. about solar panels watch out for the cheap companies now on buying solar panels, the cheap solar panels that read 67 or below for the waterproofing connect will leak into the units, 67 is NOT WATERPROOF ITS WATER RESISTANT 68 AND ABOVE IS WATERPROOF. what some companies are doing now are installing a weep hole at the bottom of the solar panel knowing that there solar panels do leak or collect condensation will help to drain out the solar panels, . if your solar panel builds up con densation or leaks you can drill a tiny hole in the panels corner, about 1/8"in 1 or 2 places to drain the water out. i did this using a couple of aftermarket or CHEAP fog lights on my truck drilled 2 1/8" holes in it to remove the road spray or wet conditions or rain from them . PLEASE BE SURE TO ASK WHAT LEVEL IS THE WATERPROOFING , AGAIN IF ITS 67 AND BELOW DRILL THE HOLE!, IF ABOVE DONT WORRY ABOUT IT.

There are cheaper units out there, but none charge this fast, so it depends on your needs. If this is for a home backup for power outages, then this, with the extras batteries is hard to beat. For road trips and camping, If I could afford it, then this would be one to buy because of EcoFlows quality. The Vitoman is good, but it takes a long time to recharge. The fast recharge is this one's main selling point.

Stop telling people it’s a whole home replacement generator. What you don’t say is that would cost 8k with 2 extra batteries and 1000w of solar . You can get a generac backup generator for your entire home for less . This is fine for charging laptops and phones and camping, not a house. Not to mention there’s no sun during a storm and sometimes days after . So when this battery dies in a few hrs you have a 50lb paperweight. Get a Honda eu2200 and 10 gal of gas before the storm and have power for a week.

You can't run a generator if you live in an apartment or if the gas station doesn't have electricity to run it's pumps. These units have their place.

The ideal setup would be to have an Ecoflow, 800+ watts of solar and a Honda 2200 to help recharge the Ecoflow when needed. Ten gallons of gas and a Honda is good, but that alone won’t run your house for a week either. The Honda uses about 3-4 gallons/day under load if used continuously. So 10 gallons might last you for about 3 days. Using a solar generator and a gas generator together would allow you to have power for several weeks for a potential long-term outage like a hurricane or a problem with the grid. Even better would be to have a backup dual-fuel generator like a Champion that can run on propane, because propane lasts for 10-20 years and won’t go bad after 6-12 months like gasoline will.

I see it in Amazon right now for $439. Also, they offer package deals for both the Delta 2 Max and panel(s) that offer a larger savings.
