Excellent, thorough review. While you said this was a long video I prefer this to a five minute cursory introduction to a $1,000 device. Earlier this year our power was out for almost 18 hours. No AC, no fans, no cooking. I looked at a Milwaukee battery powered fan and that was about $100. A Delta 2 seems like a bargain in comparison since I can run a fan, use a kettle and an induction cooktop. Coffee maker too.

Excellent job. You keep adding new angles in your reviews and I love it. I have been waiting for this unit for awhile. One disappointment is the 60V solar limit. Bluetti had a similar issue with the EB150, then they released the EB240 and raised the voltage a bit. EcoFlow should have made it something like 66V or 70V. In any case, small complaint for a nice unit.

Yeah, you have to have very specific panels to put them in a 3s config. Luckily it allows up to 15 amps input, a large improvement over the 10 amp limit of the EB120/EB150. So you could probably still get max power with a 2S config as well.

FYI: the idle power consumption for the DC output is actually about 3 watts or ~0,3% per hour. The SoC meter just doesn't register it so you could end up with an empty battery a couple of weeks while the Delta 2 is still indicating 100%. Same goes for low power solar charging. If you only input a couple of watts, the SoC stays the same. This has thrown me off the loop a couple of times until I figured it out. I suppose the current shunt isn't accurate enough to produce enough voltage drop at such low currents.

Really enjoy your videos. I’m looking at buying a portable power station to power my Snomaster CL56D fridge/freezer. I will have it in my work truck and I am trying to figure out the best way to charge it while I’m driving. The fridge does allow you to have both AC and DC connected, but will default to AC power if connected. If I’m right I could use the portable power station to charge while driving while running the fridge off AC power on the pack. Once the truck is shut off the power pack will disconnect from charging and the fridge will switch to DC power in the power pack.

Great video as always! I have a suggestion for a future tests. For solar applications it's crucial to have a good round-trip efficiency in addition to a good inverter and dc circuitry efficiency. Could you also measure the total input energy in kWh needed to charge a solar generator fully? Putting a power meter between the solar array and the MPPT controller input would help in sizing the array. And while you're at it, why not measure the input energy while charging from AC with the Kill a watt you use for inverter output efficiency tests?

I really like that point about the extra batteries just being a way to expand capacity and nothing else. No way to charge or use outside of the main device. I had the idea that, on my Delta Pro, I could use the extra battery to bring outside and charge via solar during the day then bring it back inside to keep the main battery going at night but you can't do that. Shame cause, if you want to use the Delta 2 or Delta pro as your main station and keep it in a specific spot, it could be hard to bring out to wherever power is coming unless you get longer cords or have a setup already installed or something. At least with the Delta 2, it's a looooot easier to carry around, lol. Thanks for the video!

Jason after consideration about how I use the delta 2. I have decided that for my purposes, the extra battery would be a waste of money. So I'm buying a second delta 2 instead. Basically we only spend time in two maybe three rooms in the house. Two of those rooms are side by side. The delta 2 can run everything in the kitchen except the range. Out the other one in the master bedroom. I can't do that with the extra battery. If I ever decide to get a transfer switch to run house. I'll be purchasing a larger unit with expandability. Oh and the two rooms next to each other are kitchen and den. The only we run in den are TV and a couple of lamps. What say you.

Thanks for sharing this. I have been looking at this and saw another review where the EPS could not keep the computer running during failover. I'm curious now why that is. I'll be looking into this as it might make a good solution for the home office as well as keeping our fridge running during a power outage.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
Are you referring to Hobotechs video when he tested with a laptop without a battery? I'm not sure if that's a realistic test since most people use their laptops with batteries. I think testing with a desktop is more realistic. The EPS mode will work fine with some devices and it won't with others. I think it worked with my desktop computer because the power supply has built in capacitors (like all desktop computers) that allow for quick losses of power. I think it should work well for any full size fridge and for most desktop computers. The only way to know would be to test on your specific computer.

Very good review my friend. Very impressive product. One question, it would be nice if I could charge my 48 volt e-bike battery from DC and or use the e-bike battery as an expansion module to this one. That would give a multy purpose use to both devices. Depending on the need at the time. Because the e-bike charger can only do 2 amps.

Very nice Overview and good information on Details, thanks! Just one question: the two 12VDC 5521 outputs are rated to have 3A max current, your measurement was 120W output what means 10A. You know the reason for the Differenzen? Anyway I ordered one, looking forward to have it in my Handy!
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
The printed text displays 3 amps, but the power station allows 10 amps output total. So you can pull up to 10 amps out of one of the ports / all the ports combined. The 5521 connections themselves are not rated for much power or they will get warm/hot over extended runtimes. The safe long term limit for 5521 connections is probably 5 amps, so you could pull 5 amps from each port and be okay. Hope that helps!

@todd.parker
@todd.parker Жыл бұрын
I don't think they are lying on capacity - the battery cells are rated at 1024wh but there will always be losses with batteries as you pull power from them and convert it into AC power or step down the battery voltage from 48v to 12v. 20% losses are the average in the industry and this is a bit above that.
@rizipt
@rizipt Жыл бұрын
@@todd.parker That's a move that not many people have noticed or might not even care. They used to be real heavy, now they're lighter than all of them. Less battery, more voltage. I've definitely noticed the loss in conversion. I lose 60 watts an hour with my Bluetti. It's enough to make me reconsider keeping something running 24/7. I think the issue, if there is one, would be that this unit is less efficient than other Ecoflow products.

Great review. Looks like a very good product. Like the fact they finally went to Lithium Iron Phosphate. One question. What is the power limit of the UPS mode? I assume it is the same as the power charging as plugging it in to the AC outlet. Please verify this. Thanks.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
Well these do literal pass through charging, so if you are charging and pulling power it totals up all the wattage over 1200w, so charging at 1200watts plus whatever your load is it will go high. Ecoflow power stations are some of the only power stations with true pass through charging.

I'm very likely buying this power staton for charging my e-mountain bike for camping and hunting. The TWO reasons are: 1.) the LFP battery with greatly expanded cycle life over Li-ion stations. 2.) its companion battery expansion, ALSO with LFP battery technology. This expansion battery is mainly for home emergency use. I plan to charge this when camping/hunting with an Off Grid TREK solar blanket draped over my MAZDA CX-5 windshield and roof with the DELTA 2 locked inside the trunk while I'm away from camp. In the evening I'll simultaneously re-charge my E-MTB's 2 batteries in its patented single charge port.

Hey Jason bought delta 2 so far I’m happpy with it. I plan on buying extra battery after I save up some more cash. I have 2 200 watt newpowa panels. I would like to set them up outside in my yard but can’t figure how to get solar cables inside my house to charge delta.2. I don’t won’t to cut hole in my wall. I do have hole in my floor with an old satellite cable runs thru. Think I might be able to get one cable thru but probably no way for two. Got any suggestions

Hi, (sorry for my English)I have delta 2 unit with the extra battery. I used this unit almost every day about a month now and all worked fine. I charged from solar and the extra battery charged up to 100% without problem, but the main unit stopped at 84%. I tried to charge from mains as well and the same. The charge/ discharge level is on 0-100% so shoudn’t be problem. I try to use my tv from ac to take out some charge, but only charged back to 84%. After that switched off the unit and just disconnected the extra battery and I planned to discharge the unit to 0% but the last 1% lasted forever, So I tried to recharge the main unit from main now and hoped will go through on 84%. The main unt said on the screen Will be fully charged just in 25minutes from 1%, charged with 1000watts. Successfully was able to step through the 84% but when hit the 90% suddenly jumped to 100% and stopped charging. What can be the problem? I’m able to use the full capacity off the battery or something went wrong with the battery or the controller software? Thanks for the help

The display percentages aren't exact but I haven't seen my jump around that much. Use the Ecoflow smart app to open a support ticket, see if they will replace or repair the unit. You can also call them on the phone to get support.

Hi all, So....I have a hack that I literally just thought of for people who can't afford another Delta Pro or extra battery BUT need additional power and own another ecoflow battery. I have called ecoflow and given them the idea as well and they confirmed that it will in fact work!! I then asked them why they don't tell everyone after I've told them and they said they would "escalate the idea" to their top tier and perhaps add it to their FAQs. So here's the idea: We've been told that you must have like systems in order to use them together. This is NOT actually true. If your Delta Pro is low on power (or any other ecoflow system you have) you can simply plug its charging cable (in the rear) into the front of the secondary system. In other words you're using the second system as a wall outlet of sorts. This works especially well in the evening when the sun is down and there is no more backup energy. What do you do when the sun is up?...even better...plus the second system from the rear into the front of the Delta Pro. This allows the sun to charge them BOTH regardless of the differences of their capacities or sizes!!! The only word of caution they gave me after saying what a great idea this was, was to say don't forget to lower the charging speed on the Delta Pro once it's plugged into the front of the second system. Guys this means you can use anything from a River and up to charge your Delta Pro OR any other ecoflow system. If this works for you please like my comment and say "Thanks T!!" just so I'll know at least I was able to communicate something helpful to the solar community-especially since these systems are sooooo expensive!!

It would be handy if the Ecoflow App had a charging history / graph - a bit like the ones you get on the Victron app. Especially when you're using the bigger systems like the Delta Pro. It's just nice to be able to monitor your solar input and power draw over the course of a day / week. I've asked Ecoflow to add it to their app but do you think it would be possible to connect something like a Victron monitor / shunt to my solar panel and to my Ecoflow, so I can see the charging / solar history, etc? I know that probably seems like overkill, but it's the only option I could think of until Ecoflow give their app an update :)
@Jasonoid

There might be an inline shunt that you could put on the solar panel wires to track your daily power.

Hi Jason, quick questions. I am in the process of building an insulated shed on my backyard to store my tools. I have a decent amount of power tools: drills, lawn mower, weedwhacker , blower, and would like to install a lighting. Do you think a EcoFlow would be able to power all of those items or should I look for a different option? Thank you
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
If those tools are battery powered it should be fine to keep the batteries charged up. If they are plug in tools, it's hard to tell since I don't know how many watts each tool pulls. You'd want to try to max out the solar input so you could charge it at the 500 watt rate.

I have the older 1260Wh version and was using it as a ups for my computer. I had shut the computer off so no power being drawn, but left the ecoflow plugged into the wall outlet. The unit got hot the cooling fans kicked on and the battery dropped to 95 percent. The manual I noticed states not to leave plugged in unattended. Is that the same for the Delta 2 model?
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid Жыл бұрын
I would say with any battery product that is charging / powering appliances, it's good practice to not leave them unattended. With LFP batteries inside it's definitely safer. I don't remember anything in the owners manual about leaving it unattended.

@@Jasonoid Hey, thanks for the quick reply. It’s almost as if they are checking whether they’re needed or not. Every 10 mins or so, the fans fire up for 20-30 seconds, then switch off again. I expect the fans to be on with larger loads - first world problems :-) can live with it, but yeah, coming from the EB70, wasn’t expecting it.
