I downloaded the Eco Flow app on my iPhone to remote start and stop my wave2. This area has low humidity. Usually around 35-40%. But I got a warning that the condensation tank was full of water. I hooked up the drain hose but it wasn’t draining. I learned I need to go into the app and click on settings then click on automatic drain then turn on external drain every time I use this wave2 for cooling. That’s a pain but necessary. Plus if I decide not to use the wave2 for a few days I need to carry it to a sink and tilt it to drain remaining water out. The drain tube is obviously not at the bottom. It’s maybe 2/3 down so it leaves some water in. But my wave2 works great for cooling a room and now I’m starting to use it for heating my living in the mornings because temperatures are cooler. I keep the fan on medium all the time and it only uses about 325 watts for heating or cooling. That’s awesome!

Amazing that water would not only collect - but to the point that it disables itself! Excellent detective work, Sherlock!

Anything above 70% humidity, most AC units require a drain. If its 50% or less they can oftentimes just vaporize it and get rid of the condensation through the exhaust air. I live in the Great Lakes region and we get lots of humidity. When it's hot here it's quite often 80-plus percent humidity and the water just runs out of our window air conditioners. This unit has the ability to pump the water up so you have to tell the unit that you want it to drain/ pump not just use the evaporation method.

Your home AC has the same thing. The evap coil has a drain, if that drain clogs....it trips a small float switch and it will stop the AC to avoid a flood inside the air handler or furnace.

Haven't used it as an air conditioner yet, but it certainly does the job on the heating side. Good to know the drain is something I will need to keep in mind when boondocking next spring!

It seems to me like the heater does perform better than the AC on these units. Thanks for the comment!

Did you ever go into the app settings and selected to turn on the drain function? They just had an update that once you set it you don't have to set it again. That will be the only way it auto drains.

I don't have a smart phone and therefore no app. Had to fix it another way. Thanks for the comment!!!!!

Hi, Thanks for doing your video. I'd agree with the comment the unit could be undersized for what your doing but (1) it seems to be working well to some degree. (2) Some more info would help understand that better. How big is the room your trying to air-condition (it looks quit large), and how well is your motor home insulated.. And what's the temperature difference you achieved inside compared to outside when your were running it flat out. And what the relative humidity like in your area? I'm thinking about this unit for a Sprinter van in a normally hot climate that can at times by quite humid, and a little worried the specs shows cooling power to be fairly low when compared to other more "established" AC units (understandable, it's a small luggable unit) e.g. Dometic 24VDC truck cab cooler (a very small floor area), and their smallish mains voltage Harrier Lite unit. And the specs as quoted on the Eco website are a little confusing when looking at the power supply options they offer and the respective cooling capacity they quote. The terms change between the options. I'm not a refrigeration engineer but it would be nice to have like for like comparisons. One point another KZfaq helped clear up is the Eco unit will only take about a 1/4 of the power input if your running direct off 12V DC, so I didn't use that in my comparisons.

The room is not overly large(No slide -out) but the walls are only just over an inch thick. It will shave about ten degrees off the outside temp when running on max cool setting. It's good for the slightly-warm days down here in Yuma but I need to fire up my bigger AC units when it gets into the 90's. Low humidity most of the time though and still a lot of condensation. Did you see my final review video? That one sums up what I think of the unit after using it for months. Hope this helps with your decision......

Thanks, yes I did see your summary video.... after I posted. I have bought one so I'll see, but at least with my eyes open. I can't get a roof install done before a Xmas get together, and I will have a small basic trailer/camper so it can go there if we need it. Thanks

What about the second hose??

Both hoses are vented to the outside now.

I do now. I have another video posted on my channel about how the hose system is set up now if you want to watch it.

SO....maybe I am missing something. 1. The Wave 2 is WAY undersized for what you are doing. 2. Running it without the AIR INTAKE hose on the back, you are creating negative pressure (vacuum) inside your RV and thereby sucking HOT outside air into the RV. 3. Why dont you just just install 2 Coleman rooftop units and have REAL A/C?????? 4. One Coleman unit will run off shore power or off your gen set.

I bought the wave 2 as a back-up in case the power goes out. Wanted something low wattage for my solar-powered generator. Plus for its heating function in the wintertime. As far as the intake hose is concerned I've seen both arguments(One that it isn't necessary and the unit will be more efficient drawing in the much-cooler inside air and your argument about negative pressure) and decided to go with the inside only because of how hot it gets down here. Outside air during the summer months is routinely over 110 and then add the intake would be right next to the even-hotter exhaust outlet I decided on the no hose inside route. Working on full blast it draws just over 500 watts and will keep the inside about 12-15 degrees cooler than outside air temp by itself. My on board shore power units do the heavy lifting when its real hot and the ecowave just helps out a bit. Thanks for your comment!!!!

the unit will have to work harder if you don't vent both hoes out side. basically venting only one hoes. You are pushing hot air out but at the same time you are pushing hot air in too. by pushing air out you will have negative pressure on the inside and will cause air to come in form the outside to balance the pressure . Therefor making the unit work harder and use more electricity.
@Thecoutch
@Thecoutch 6 ай бұрын
Hose-not hoes. Negative pressure is true but the unit does not use more electricity under load-it has a set limit for each selected setting.
@losungen9862
@losungen9862 2 ай бұрын
@@Thecoutchwhat he’s getting at is that it’ll run more to maintain your set temperature than if you used both hoses. If you use both hoses the negative pressure won’t be drawing in warm outside air to make up for said negative pressure.
