A-MEN. They all come down here and drove our property taxes up 400%. I had rental houses with property taxes around 800 each. After the yankee covid refugees come. My taxes went to 3800 plus each then covid government tenant protection rackets led my 6 tenants to refuse to pay rent....I evicted every last one of them-it was hilarious cause the tenants and the government hyped it up that evictions were froze...WRONG!!! We sold out, paid all debt off and own a huge piece of land and a nice house with big shop way out in the woods-we owe no one anything. Thanks covid

Yes, it is, and there are numerous examples of other cities that are doing the very same things with their policies and, not a bit surprisingly, achieving the same results. Problem is, more and more productive people are tired of being cash cows for millions of free-loaders. They are leaving these cities for greener pastures and there are places in other states that are far better run, safer, with more activities to enjoy, and all at a lower cost of living, so what's not to like about abandoning these disintegrating Hoovervilles and their ever higher blood-sucking taxes, excessive regulations, high and rising crime levels, and a generally poor lifestyle? Just who is it that needs to live in a decaying dung-heap while paying through the nose for the "privilege" of putting up with this insanity?

So people move out of New York and California fleeing intolerable economic conditions created by high taxes and regulations. The problem is that when they arrive in a state like Florida in large numbers, they drive up prices for everything making it increasingly difficult for anyone who is not rich. It is nearly impossible now to live in Florida with an income less than $100,000 a year.

That's how free markets work. People and capital are free to move to where wages and taxes are lower (for capital) and cost of living is lower (for people). This will help the blue states become more affordable and the red states less so. Eventually people will see it is more advantageous to simply stay put than go to TX, FL or whatever other red state is the low cost darling of the moment.

i foresee NYC, Chicago, SF, and perhaps LA becoming state and federally subsidized urban areas. This exodus of wealth will impact these cities' tax revenue to the point that they will not be able to provide basic city services: police, fire, emergency services, sanitation, utilities, etc. without help from their state government and the Federal government. Detroit was the harbinger of what will happen in these urban areas, but these will be worse.

would love to do the same. Small Business owner in Eastern PA. I have lived here all my life (45 years old), and have been to 43 States. My traveling era for work was mostly 2000 to about 2019. I used to tell everyone who asked me 'How's Pennsylvania? what's it like?" that it's better than some places, worse than others. Generic but true, still is for the most part. Ugh, I live in California and I'm tired of people voting for the Democrats (the criminals in the White House) makes me sick!!! There are alot of people I know here, that are Conservatives/Christians but unfortunately our votes don't seem to matter. I really want to move but my son, who got into a bad dirt bike accident he has a bad TBI and I take care of him so he has to be by his daughter, she has autism and her mom won't move because of her husband, everything is a mess. Anyway I wished things were different here. We tried to recall Newsom but obviously something went horribly wrong, now we got stuck with him still. California used to be a beautiful state, (I was born and raised here) now It's a mess here. I do pray 🙏 things would get better...May God have mercy on us all. Jesus is coming back again just as God has spoken through His written Word.

Here's how this works: sure, those state and city governments have huge holes in their budgets that they can't fill, both because of shrinking tax bases and the fact that they can't deficit-spend. So their left-wing public officials go crying to their left-wing counterparts in the Federal government. They, in turn, declare another unrelated "emergency," like a recession or a pandemic. That enables them to push an "emergency spending" bill of around a trillion dollars. About 10% or 15% of that money goes to its advertised purpose (help-out the citizens); the rest goes to favored constituencies like those city and state governments, public-employee retirement bailouts, and businesses and NGO's that employ a ton of political supporters. Problem solved until the next crisis in five years or so; rinse and repeat. Your Tax Dollars At Work.

You can't sell without buyers, unless you have a mortgage and intentionally default so that ownership transfers to the lender. Fyi, I'm a grad degreed Aerospace Engineer, recently retired, so no rube, but I have lived my entire life, except for a stint in The Corps and my undergrad college, in Florida. I just want to say I have seen some crazy property tax increases the last 5 years with the influx of new immigrants (whether American or not)...it has stressed our roads and schools and medical infrastructure. I wish the blue states would fix their broken justice systems and schools so the mass influx would stop. We are bursting at the seams.

I live in Texas and DFW has increased its population by 1 Million people just in last few years. Prices are becoming outrageous here and the traffic is horrendous- I literally don’t leave my house from 4:00 to 7:00 PM because the traffic makes it not worth going anywhere. Dallas infrastructure can not continue supporting such mass migrations. Something needs to change ASAP!
