The facade took me a while to build mostly because it was a weekend project, but overall I believe it took me around two full working days to build. The first day to assemble that panels and the other to paint and apply the material and hinges.

I had a great idea - that might be helpful for your facade... You made yours 4 feet tall... I would suggest at about the 3 and a half foot height mark, put some form of pin held table top on there - so it becomes a portable table booth... youd have your 2 sections you clip together, and from there just clip the table top on it... Also instead of a LED bar [which are good but bulky] look into LED strip lighting with one of those small remote control's - you could even go so far as to wire the whole thing so it has a power strip board just under the table top so you could power your gear from a single point on the unit - much cleaner and would save you a lot of setup time! I am designing one myself to do similar - would be happy to share those designs with you once I get them right :)

After the video I made a few changes to how the facade is held together. At the center I replaced the brackets and went with a removable pin style hinge, and use cotter pins. Much easier to set up and holds the facade together real nice. The strip lighting I considered but had issues with keeping the lights attached to the facade, that and worried about damaging the lights when transporting the facade while attached. Instead I use either a par can or an ultra bar to light up the facade.

From what I remember It's a Spandex 4 way stretch material, they called it swimsuit material. It comes in a role that you buy by the foot.... Hope this helps

I used a four way stretch material (White Spandex) to cover each panel that I picked up at Joanns Fabrics. I only used one layer on each panel, but I recommend doubling up on the material, one layer is too transparent. Or try using "Iced Panels" like the kind used in kitchens for florescent lighting. They work really well, Lowes and Home Depot carries them. Also to see better pics of the facade check me out on FB @ facebook com/economydj1 Wedding Album has the best pics. Thanks

The panels I built were specific to my table, I use a 4ft table for my DJ set-up. The two side panels measure 2ft wide x 4ft tall. The front two panels measure 2 1/2 feet wide x 4ft tall... I wanted the front of the facade to be wider than my table so I figured 1ft would do the trick. So far it's worked out perfectly. For larger tables like 6ft or 8ft, you may have to build a third panel for the middle... Hope this helps

Nice work Bruh:-) I did not get those pre cut boards from Lowes, thats the thing to do, that way they are all the exact same size. My next one I will get those boards for sure:-)

Great video, You have convinced me I can build my own. you've done a really good job with the limited tools you had. Did you use the wood dowels in your joints? I always worry about getting them lined up straight. Oh and I loved your wifes reaction to being on video, she wouldn't having none of that. lol
@EconomyDJ
@EconomyDJ 10 жыл бұрын
I actually never used the dowels, It was just easier for me to use a longer screw and wood glue to tie the pieces together. But thinking back now I should have used them. But my facade is still holding up to this day since originally posting the video.

my question is what happens when some kids put their hands on the screen? that's if the party has kids????have you encountered this problems?
@EconomyDJ
@EconomyDJ 10 жыл бұрын
It happens from time time to time (kids touching the facade). I'm always at the booth and try and monitor the little ones from touching the facade. But for the most part there has been no damage thus far. The material is stretchy and is stapled fairly well in the back.

what material you used for stringing ?
@EconomyDJ
@EconomyDJ 9 жыл бұрын
Not sure what stringing is but I used Spandex, a swimsuit material, it's a four way stretch. I think for future projects I might be using either lykra or a Ponte material. Lykra has a goo dglow to it and is not as see through like spandex is. and the Ponte material is heavier and also has a a nice glow to when the par cans hit them

From what I can remember I spent less than $200 to build the facade. It's more than paid for itself over the past couple of years... Well worth the investment to bring in a little extra cash on a show
