Kiwi EV owner here. Kiwis are a pretty jealous bunch and EVs gained a bit of hate because of subsidy and not paying RUCs. Too many Teslas getting keyed. RUCs are road user charges and not about emissions and most forums talk about RUCs being fair. We did get something like an 8 year RUC exemption FWIW.

The part 135 isn't for its evtol craft. They couldn't use it with that craft and has nothing to do with it. It can only be used with certified airplanes and helicopters. They just got it for deceptive marketing. They want people like you to say they got it for their archer midnight craft.

In the EV USA news this week, the state of Virginia has dropped out of the California EV mandate. Are there more states to follow? As of today, only 16 states are tied to the California EV mandate. This means that 34 out of 50 states in the USA are not committed to the EV mandate. EV mandates will fail without widespread support despite gov’t mandates.

Automakers (Ford, GM, and Mercedes) are stepping back on EVs and focusing more on hybrids. The public wants the convenience and familiarity of ICE vehicles. The current crop of EVs don’t fit that category.

Because their EVs are not very good and they will give up future market share to other manufacturers.

@@ObiePaddles The mainstream consumer wants a vehicle that can be replenished in 3-5 minutes and doesn’t take a PHd to figure the controls. Thus far, no EV fits that category. Right now, just a little over 1% of USA registered light duty vehicles are EVs which amounts to 3M out of the 288M on the road today. EVs have a chasm to climb over before it is mainstream.

@@williamquemuel7824 So you ignored the fact that they make bad EVs. Anyway, you are wrong on both counts: Most EVs charge overnight at home. Takes 30 seconds to plug in and take out. If you cant figure out the controls for a Nissan Leaf you shouldn’t be on the road. And if you want to do the ‘not everyone can charge at home, which is true, those I know charge in shopping centres which takes about 3 minutes. On long runs we charge while on rest room breaks or lunch etc. Takes less time overall than finding a gas station and filling up (which no-one does in 3 mins).

@@ObiePaddles Considering only 1% of registered vehicles in the USA are EVs after 14 years of production shows that you are wrong. The early adopters are the majority buyers not the mainstream. My statement stands for the mainstream buyer: convenience and familiarity.

@@williamquemuel7824 that’s a poor understanding of maths. Remember when Nokia said something like only 1% of phones in production were smartphones…probably because smartphones were ‘too complex etc’. That’s where Ford etc will be if they dont get their A into G (or Government to stop imports).
