I love how Ashkenazy explains the different states of mind inherent in Scriabin's music. The longing, flying, chaos & ecstasy...

Intersting the influence of M. Blavatsky: Scriabin, Fernando Pessoa (great portuguese poet) and Moacir Santos (Brazilian jazz musician).

For me, spiritual ecstasy in music is exemplified by the opening of Bach's Christmas Oratorio. It's difficult for me to associate the music of Scriabin with spiritual ecstasy. For me, his music is very passionate and sensual in the conventional sense of the term. However, it's a kind of elevated, aestheticized sensuality. It's quite intoxicating stuff, really.
