While diet certainly plays a role in your health and eczema, assigning blame strictly to food for a flare-up isn’t the best approach. We’ll dive into the complex relationship between food and eczema, the pros and cons of elimination diets, diet strategies that focus on health over fear and easy action steps to implement immediately.
Presenter
Jennifer Fugo, MS, LDN, CNS is a clinical nutritionist who has experience working with clients with a variety of skin conditions including eczema. As an adult who relapsed with eczema and got better quickly- basically eczema is an energy overflow issue with vitamin b complex deficiency. Eat lower fat (but take 20-30 mg omega 3, 6, vitamin A, zinc, iodine, vitamin b6, 1, 12 , 2) , moderate protein, carbs are fine but if you eat too much sugar too fast your metabolism speeds up too much and your cell runs out of vitamin b and fat. No need for the weird veganism or carvonism -we tend to fall to these extremes as we are scared of flares. Smaller meals timed also help because our cells can’t take too much metabolizing in a short time

You say it might not be the food it might be the way the food interacts with your body. Then it's the food. I've had eczema all my life on and off, I recently had a bad flare up for the first time in years and wondered what was going on. I had recently started eating oranges every day. I cut the oranges out and what would you know, the eczema cleared up.

I agree, it looks like for some reason ($$$) they want to maintain the people with eczema and skin problems, they know that we are opening our eyes and stop using moisturizers, steroids, and that kind of bullshit that the dermatological industry sells and makes a lot of money with, in fact I remember seeing the eczema association logo in many products like moisturizers, coincidence? Mm I don't think so

My pediatrician in the early 80s told my mother that I had to avoid citric acid, and as a child I was told I was allergic to oranges, tomatoes and chocolate. My eczema is bad but it was never bad enough to keep me from chocolate!

I spent 55 years of my life having eczema acne and allergies. I was treated by every possible traditional medical way including several years course of roaccutane . I dread to think what this has done to my gut. 4.5 years ago I eliminated wheat from my diet to lose some weight. After 2 weeks of wheat free life all my skin conditions cleared up and as long as I don’t touch the stuff my skin is clear. Please do not tell people that diet is not important. It is irresponsible and disempowering.

Eczema is a hetergenious condition. This means what what works for some doesn't work for all! So glad to hear that cutting out wheat helped you in such huge ways! We wish this was the answer for everyone, however eczema is an incredibly complex, multifactorial condition. Diet, as you know, plays a huge role but it is often not the only factor at play. We have a nutrition and diet resource hub on our website if you want to explore more!

these videos suck because they dont give any alternative solutions. they just say "eat a wide variety of foods!, all food is good" and that doesnt work to fix anything. at least elimination diets try and solve the issue. if i were to listen to you, i would be suck having severe dermatitis forever.

Sorry to disappoint you. There is no magic bullet, and this webinar points out that, while it's tempting to try something radical like an elimination diet, they should be carefully supervised by a professional. No one video will solve eczema but we recommend learning as much as you can about eczema (using our content as well as other reliable sources) and working closely with your HCP to determine how to manage your eczema.
