Honestly all the characters on this show are pretty one dimensional except Jared, who turns out to be this incredibly deep, complex, wounded, wonderful person. Woods had way more acting experience, which helped, but his inclusion really shows some self-awareness in the writing. Nice job and wonderfully acted.
@AnshumanKumar0074 жыл бұрын
They all are. Jared is the wild card character like Creed from the office and Phoebe from Friends
@billywhite14034 жыл бұрын
@@AnshumanKumar007 That would be more Bachman, in terms of providing unexpected plot material. Although you are correct in identifying a second trope, common to all three shows: "character with sad backstory" which is Jared here, Phoebe from Friends, and Erin from the office (who had a cringey relationship with Woods' character). One of the takeaways is that large numbers of stand-up comics are able to learn dramatic acting, at least well enough for TV
@mperez4123 жыл бұрын
@@billywhite1403 I gotta agree that Erlich is more of the wildcard in terms of creating random plot, while disagreeing with the other guy and his Creed assessment in that regard. Creed was a wildcard with his dialogue, but there's almost nothing he does in the entire series that takes the plot in a different direction. I would have to say Dwight for The Office if those are the parameters we're working with here.
@Malkumecks3 жыл бұрын
Not sure why you guys are comparing him to Creed and Dwight when obviously he’s a Gabe
@billywhite14033 жыл бұрын
@@Malkumecks yeah you are right, he was def on both shows. I don't think the Office gave him much backstory besides being secretly a cool guy, speaking chinese, proucing music... and the psycho lover storyline. Jared could def be an older Gabe starting over on the W Coast...

The Thomas Theorem. It's a simple thought but actually hits pretty deep. If you think about it the idea of "The United States" is just completely made up. If everyone lost their memory of it and all documentation of it was lost it would functionally cease to exist. But because we believe it exists, it does. And people are willing to die for that belief.

That’s the genius in the writing.. as a viewer you parallel Richards reaction of hearing he was “fired” but having worked in a business environment it actually makes sense Jared felt the need to “fire” him as he has now developed a figure that’s very real to the world outside of their company… you’d be surprised how important it would be to make sure everyone in the company understands this fake persona has been fired to not confuse outside business

with how easily Jared brought Ed Chambers to life, it's almost curious to wonder if Jared is actually another one of his personalities, and "Donald" was another one of his personalities when he was under Gavin Belson. Perhaps Jared came from Donald finally become sick of Gavin's abuse, and as he left Gavin and came to Richard as "Jared" he decided to get away from the abusive relationship he had with Gavin, and took on a nurturing role with Richard. Speaking german in his sleep, his group home past. Jared (if that's his real name) likely has disassociate identity disorder
@majskukka32797 жыл бұрын
King Kooba I had similar thoughts, and I definetly think he has some identity issues, as he often hints about an abusive or otherwise misfitting past and he may have created "Jared" as a defense to those events, acting as if they never happened. This could've severely altered his identity, and now he can't see a difference between himself and identities he makes up. Very interesting character indeed
