So, Nickelodeon rejected Edd, Ed and Eddy so Cartoon Network took it, then years later Nickelodeon rejected Adventure Time for Cartoon Network to take it back yet again. Wow, Nickelodeon....Just, wow.

Hey man, I saw your video and I'd thought I'd clear up a few things up about this mystery pilot. I was a member on the3eds in its heyday, and I remember seeing something about "3 Men" being talked about. From what I remember, "3 Men" was supposedly the first series pitch, and not exactly a pilot and they only had four characters at that point. Those characters were more or less the precursors of Ed, Edd, Eddy, and Nazz. Eddy was Paris, Ed's character's name was Oslo or something. I can't remember what Edd or Nazz were called, though they might've been Berlin and London, and London was supposedly Paris's girlfriend. In the pitch, it had them also being young adults, like somewhere around 17-19 or so, and more or less trying to get ahead in life. That was the pitch before Antonucci and the A.K.A. Cartoon crew wrote the series bible, and changed up the characters as well as adding new ones. The series bible is what they sent to Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, not too sure where they send "3 Men" to, but it might as well have been Comedy Central. The series pilot for Ed, Edd, n Eddy is actually Pop Goes the Ed, and it kind of shows as its animation is a lot more messy than even the other Season 1 episodes.

Man, the Ed fandom is really depressing nowadays. It's almost symbolic about how so many fan sites dedicated to a show about the fleeting nature of childhood innocence are now lost to the either..

Ed Edd n Eddy was created as a dare by one of Danny's friends. Basically saying "hey dickbrain bet you can't make a kids show dweebzilla" and Danny was like "Fuck you" and made it happen. What I personally believe, is that 3 Men existed, but it wasn't picked up. So when Danny's friend gave him the dare, he decided to re-hash the show idea into Ed Edd n Eddy. Which ended up working better as a show about kids during summer break. Just my personal theory though. I could be totally wrong lol.

Nickelodeon didn't reject Ed Edd n Eddy, they accepted it but wanted complete creative control. Danny didn't want to sell out, so he said no and pitched it to Cartoon Nework. He knew hid idea was good, and that is one of the many reasons why I call Mr. Antonuccci my idol.

In the creators room: "Let's make a show about 3 dudes, more adult oriented, you know?" "Nah, let's make them kids. Easier to sell to studios. I need to pay rent." "Alright" That's probably as far as "3 Men" got. If it ever existed.

I actually do remember the 3 Men rumour from when it was happening, definitely just somebody trying to pass off their fanfic ideas as a real episode, think it started as a wikia page. I remember the3eds and I'm actually sad, had no idea it was gone because I hadn't checked on it in years but I guess it had to go sooner or later.

To some extent, I think I figured out why people couldn't "agree" if it was called "3 Men" or "3 Dudes"... There's this old article from 1999 that I found that talks about "Ed, Ed, 'n' Eddy" coming to Cartoon Network, which gives a bit of details about the characters and how long each episode would be, among other things. The thing that gets me is that the article is called "3 Guys, One 'Toon". It makes me wonder if people didn't read this article about the "beginning" of the show and misinterpreted it as a "pilot" when in actuality, it was the article equivalent to a documentary/behind-the-scenes thing.

This video/rumor gave me a huge interest to dig deeper in the "3 Men/3 Dudes" mystery, however upon searching, I found nothing that wasn't mentioned in this video...but there's one thing worth noting, which I haven't seen in the comments here, is that there's lost episodes of The Brothers Grunt. Enough for an entire season. Could it maybe have been that?

I was actually a very active member on The3Eds back in 2007-2014, and I can pretty much tell you what I remember from it: I remember, around the time I joined the forum, the forum actually LISTED "3 Men" in its 'Episodes' sub-section with a similar description to the one you provided. However, I remember it being removed about a year into my membership, and the following discussions about it being that it was "Thought to be fake" and had "no evidence towards its existence". So yeah...it probably didn't exist. Still, awesome video and AWESOME to see The3Eds featured so prominently in a video! I used to go on there ALL THE TIME as a kid!

I very specifically remember an episode where Ed wasn't so stupid, all I really remember was he was playing with a plane and he wasn't quite friends with Edd and Eddy, and I think the plot revolved around the plane Ed was playing with, I think Eddy was trying to screw Ed out of it. It was the first time I saw the show.

I remember when "the3eds" was called "los3eds" originally, but the admin lost the website for whatever reason. I was more of a user on the Earth2Ed Forum, which was smaller but I preferred that anyway. I remember talks of episodes that were never made, particularly "Special Ed", I believe one of the admins of the site actually interviewed Danny Antonucci themselves when talking about it, and that's where I first heard of it. As for this "3 Men" Pilot, I can safely say I've never heard of this until stumbling upon your video, it was never discussed on either websites to my knowledge, so it sounds like a more recent urban legend to me.

Damn, the person who wrote the Angry Beavers fanfic must've been a really good author if it convinced people that it was an actual episode.

This is an excellent video, I'm really impressed with the depth of your investigating and you articulate your findings so well I must admit I was initially put off by your lack of proper branding on your channel (weird username, low res intro card, generic nintendo profile icon) but I was wrong to do so, this video is very very well done. Ya know, it's REALLY hard to tell just from the internet what is and isn't real. This probably isn't, since even old fans have seemingly forgot it, but I remember years ago I was at a friends place and he was obsessively pouring over the internet like half the whole time I was there reading aloud stuff on Dexter's Rude Removal and I thought that was total BS (one of the things he read was that there was an alleged screening of an uncensored version). That ended up being true. Then I remember an online friend of mine who passed away recently telling me rumors of a webseries that was a Cowboy Bebop spin-off starring VT. That was probably a hoax but ya never know.

I don't think this particular pilot never existed. Show creator Danny Antonucci came up with the concept of 3 friends being friends simply because they shared the same name. So being named after Paris etc isn't true.

As a former Edtropolis mod, I don't know what the "3 men's masquerade" was supposed to referred to, but it certainly wasn't a lost pilot we were casually referencing all the time. Dunno why no one asked what it was, but that's not really evidence of anything. It was a big forum back in the day.

From what I've heard, there was no pilot. Danny Antonucci pitched the show to both Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network was so competitive, they greenlit the show after just a few concept sketches and vague descriptions of the show that Antonucci faxed to the network.

There was one thing I wish you had mentioned. Before the show started, there were two early promos. One of them had the Eds getting chased by a big scary dog and Sarah, and it had a follow up where they were getting chased by a lawnmower. The animation in that promo was noticeably cruder than the show's first episode. The problem is that nobody seems to have the dog promo. Just the lawnmower one.

although i dont remember the title specifically,i do remember it being along the lines of 3 eds.i do know the pilot was only aired once fall of 1998. i do recall Jhonny creating plank in his garage using a saw, blowtorch, hammer and a tool sharpener(mind you its a cartoon).Jhonny was depicted as sorta being a loner. one of the things i do vaguely remember is kevin not initially hating the ed's until they did something to piss him off.the episode was more or less an introduction to the characters.

Oh man, seeing those old forums and the years/dates they last had ANY activity, really takes me back to my teenage forum browsing.... I was never into any of the Ed, Edd and Eddy forums that there were (mostly because I just never thought about finding forums with communities dedicated to the show), but mostly video game or music related forums - I remember the url legendofzelda.com USED TO BE a fan-site, with a forum with a really fun community (I think anymore the website was acquired by Nintendo or some shit, not really sure). Anyway that site led me to finding ZSO/ZC (Zelda's Secret Ocarina, a site dedicated to any and all info on the beta content of Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, and LoZ: Majora's Mask - and Zelda Coalition was the forum that the site used). This was all around 2004-2005. I remember finding a sister-forum, or a very similar one anyway, but I can't remember the name :( It was something LIKE z64, but was NOT beta64.... it was similar to those two names though. Anyway, besides all this, I remember a massive music forum I once joined, but can not remember the name of. It was something like "ultimate music forum" but not called that. Then there was a Led Zeppelin fan-forum I remember joining at some point. Then I had found a Green Day fan-forum. And, as the years went on, I had found and was involved with a few different Nirvana forums, mostly in the discussion and sharing of bootlegs and stuff. But yeah, most of all this died off around 2009-ish. The last Nirvana bootleg forum I was part of, died off around 2011-2013.

I seem to remember seeint something on Ed Edd n Eddy. It was when Eddy and Ed were making up a Nickname for Edd, since they were tired of saying Edd, and Ed answering. So Eddy said, "How about Double D" and Ed said "Yea Double D" (or something like that), then Edd was thinking about the name, "Double D?" Edd quote. Maybe it was a 30sec short in between commercials for when the show was on, but i remember it aomost 100%.

Something I'm curious about were the small animation things that would show in the background of (I think) Cartoon Cartoon Friday, when it would show the "Coming Up Next" line-up. (It's been so freaking long that I dont remember when this showed, but they were blurry, so that makes me think it was the line-up thing) cuz I remember there was one in particular that was of Ed, Edd 'n Eddy, where the Eds are running away from what looked like Sarah and a few dogs. I remember that much and always thinking, "What episode is that from?" To this day, I've never seen that in any episode, so could it be from a scraped episode? not 3 Men, but one of the others?

Back in 1995 Cartoon Network was only accepting final decisions made episodes of 1st to air shows, so they’re film crews suggested that drawings made for the creators cartoons look the ways they can go with by styling them, how they’re characters will look and be like as well as how they will act because at the time, Cartoon Network was looking for action, drama, comedy, g or teen rated anime sci-fi like the teen Titans, so they were trying to get a hold of silliness, action, adventurous behavior, educational, creative shows, Ed edd eddy was made to seem comedic and brat like by its behavior the creator wanted the comedic feeling to seem like, where as it’d be like a kid screaming that other kid stole his toy like, having their displacement of behaving go out of whack though with fights as kids was to reflect the way kids of the middle 1900’s acted to each other. The show didn’t get to have a pilot because some where in the UK their was a tv show career job offer listed in news papers that were detailed with words saying a network for cartoons is asking for people who can provide something cartoon like want their help in developing and suggesting an ideal cartoon implementations. More then 100 people brought in their own kinds of cartoon ideas and some of the management went with an approach of asking the cartoon show contestants team with others to gather around for partnering in discussing show making ideas and over 10 people were saying there should be a paper out kids living in a neighborhood amongst other kids in the surrounding area have a not alike each other by similarities sense of ideal passions, a guy called Joey Clarke said there should be a jock like kid, someone acting like a little rude punk that acts macho and has the nerve to be a bit distasteful almost every time about everything sort of character, he thought of a tall kid who wears a hat backwards and is a brown-noser behavior like kid, he called his character Kevin. Joey made up the first character for the show, and they were deciding for a few days who’s the main characters, they originally thought Johnny seemed like a good character to always present in the show, but they hated the idea of someone clueless and weird being there all the time, so they went with a science and tech geek sort of kid, Double-D.

Hey, Sonic!! Some news here... I decided to find some more dirt on this pilot. Luckily, I DID!!! Well, kinda... On Wikipedia, I looked at episode lists, and it stated that, "the pilot 'The Ed-Touchables' aired on January 4, 1999." Also, comparing this to other episodes, this episode (episode 1) is slightly different, mostly Ed's, Edd's, Jimmy's, Kevin's, and Rolf's voice were very different to others... So, we can basically call the pilot of Ed, Edd n Eddy "The Ed- Touchables". Thanks, Solomon.

I hope they make an Ed, Edd n Eddy sequel series.
