@@thomasgrande201 Mate, that's Ed playing the arpeggios on the album. Jonny on lead, Thom on rhythm. So, yes; Thom is playing a guitar, but not the arpeggios. I'm not sure what you mean about 'made.' This is what's called a fact, and they're apparently rare these days because people walk around not knowing something (which isn't a bad thing) yet insisting they do know (this is the bad thing). And here I am, arguing online, which is somehow worse. Anyway, I'll leave you with yet another article snippet at the end of this comment. Cheers, and peace! "As the second guitarist in a band in which Jonny Greenwood usually plays lead guitar, it’s understandable how Ed O’Brien often falls off the radar in band discussions. And yet the steadiness of his playing is integral to the band’s success, because it allows Jonny to go off on his daredevil flights and sonic experiments knowing that the core of the song will remain strong. On “Street Spirit,” O’Brien’s steadiness becomes brilliance right before our ears, playing arpeggios that tug at the heartstrings with every clarion note. From there the rest of the song can be built, and yet, at the end, it comes back to the arpeggios once again, not quite fading out so much as bidding us a melancholy farewell (and bidding a farewell to The Bends as well.) Thom Yorke has spoken about the dark alleyways that his lyrics traverse here, as they alternate between desperate hope and resigned despair, despair getting the better of it. Some light creeps in as Yorke sings “Immerse yourself in love” at song’s end, piercing through the Gregorian chant backing vocals, but it’s fleeting. Through it all, those arpeggios persevere. In a way, they keep “Street Spirit (Fade Out)” from being too dark, melancholy as they may be. O’Brien’s playing presses on through it all, unwavering, courageous even, beckoning us to do the same, steady as we go."

The early 90s were such a great time for beginner guitar players, because so many of the popular songs had just a few easy chords, so you were encouraged to be able to play something that actually sounded a bit like a popular song, and you could impress a girl or two in your high school. Obviously that doesn’t really describe Radiohead at all (other than Creep and a few others), but Nirvana, Green Day, etc.? It was doable.

@@sappy2373 It's one of Radiohead's best songs regardless of any of our opinions....It has universal appeal and will continue to be a popular song for decades to come, unlike some of their more musically complex songs, which i prefer. I've been listening to them since '96 and you grow to love the simplicity & innocence of some of their early songs. Peace!

Amazing, these wonderful musicians who create such beautiful and diverse music are not only opening up their entire catalogue for free but also find the time to teach absolute guitar beginners to play Creep. The best band in ages, not only because of their compositions but also because of the unpretentious, innovative and open attitude.
