I’m not going to sugar coat my feelings. He simply quit on his team ! Local sports show was talking about the likes of him these days. They come in feeling the University owes them everything then they quit on their team mates. Basically it’s I take all I can from the university then sell out. Ed said I’m going surprise people. What does that mean ? Does that mean he’s actually going to play ? He better play the NFL won’t put up with that I’ll play when I feel like it attitude. He’s a great talent but selfish. I don’t won’t to hear all the crap he didn’t want to chance getting hurt before he gets a giant paycheck. What did he actually do ? UH never won a bowl game with him playing. They did beat some good teams but not solely due to him. Last year when the defense really needed his talent he got hurt so that excuses him for the next game. The next game he’s running all over the field during pre game jumping up and down then oh sorry guys I can’t play. That was it 4 games he was medically cleared but he just couldn’t play while his teammates tried to salvage the season. Great player but a quitter and no character. Go get your millions Ed then do like Albert Haynesworthless did and quit trying after a couple seasons. Will not shock me if he doesn’t make it 5 years.

1951RKP what exactly all is he taking from the University? Did the University conceive, give birth, or raise him? I guess him basically taking years off his career essentially for the purpose of scouting for the NFL and nothing monetary is nothing for the University. Him helping to bring attention and other recruits to the school is nothing as well. Not even accounting that translates to MONEY for them. These are prime athletic years for a football player, and he’s essentially receiving room and board for his million dollar talents. The University should be glad a prime talent chose their school, and be thankful he played and gave his all as much as he did. Moral victories and these bs ethics don’t mean shit when you’re putting your health at risk. This is a career for this young man, not extra curricular like it would be for some student athletes. The line has to be drawn somewhere. We aren’t talking about the 1920s when football wasn’t necessarily looked at as a career with millions on the table.

Sunny Droe -- They provided him a platform to show case his great talent but when they and his team mates needed him most to help make the difference in winning and losing where was he ?? Clowning around acting like Super Hero and could do everything to get attention but play. He got away with that because he wasn’t on a power 5 team. Do you thing Nick Saban who has dozens of Ed Oliver level players would of allowed him to get away with what he did ? I come from a era where a mans loyalty and commitment actually meant something. Applewhite tried to pull that jacket off because he was sick of Oliver doing whatever he wanted to do. He was sick that he had a great player that refused to play. What good is someone with Oliver’s talent to the school if he’s a quitter ? I prefer 3 star players that have heart and give all they have. He’s a great player but I have no respect for a quitter ! Ed played great to show case his talent for the pros and once he felt he had accomplished that and he got injured and then was cleared to play he thought only about himself. That’s lack of character. He will get his millions and probably play hard for a while then start slacking up.

@@samcocherl680 well three of our best Defensive players got injured by week 3, including Grady who was out for 3 games in the beginning, so we never got to really see how good we'd be when everyone was healthy. Even the first game against the Eagles our best safety Keanu Neal got injured in the first or second quarter(out for season torn acl) and we held the eagles to 18 points so thats the best estimate of how our defense wouldve been. As for our DC, well he's gone now and he was pretty good but just couldn't adjust to the injuries. But now Dan Quinn our head coach is going to take over defensive play calling and he was the DC for the Seahawks when they were number 1 in the league and won the super bowl so I'd say our defense will be in good hands next season. As for TE Hooper is very good and will be here for a long time, and we also signed a couple blocking TE's in free agency so I doubt we'll be drafting one with so many other urgent needs.

He is no where near Donald's level, not even close. Every undersized DT that comes out doesn't need to be labeled the next Aaron Donald. It's getting ridiculous already. Ed Oliver isn't even the best DT in his draft class and is closer to being Solomon Thomas than Aaron Donald. A lot of sloppy tackling, missed tackles and he will not dominate at the next level like Donald has- not until he improves his technique.
