I don't know anyone who deserves the success he has had. Imagine being that young and having so much confidence and self belief that he actually asked the crowd to form a circle and sing a long with him. No one knew who he was but the energy was there. His soul spoke to them. He paid his dues doing this 7 days a week because he had a vision. God bless him. He changed the world. He now holds the record for the best selling touring act in history. By himself they said it was impossible to sell out arenas alone....no band...but then he came back and said I am gonna do stadiums alone. No band. And he sold them all out. Incredible story. I love that he isn't the cookie cutter pop star either. He wasn't the best looking but he had everything else. Truly remarkable!

I’m so happy i got to see him when he wasn’t this famous. I literally paid like 20€ or maybe even less for his gig, it’s crazy. I kinda miss those times because there’s something about small concerts that cannot be beaten by the stadium ones. And he also used to be very special to me since nobody from the people i knew listened to him back then. He was this little secret of mine. But i surely wish him all the best in life as well as in his career. He’s one of the few popular musicians that truly deserves the fame he’s got.

You can see that he did 300+ gigs a year before (2009). Like the Beatles and Queen he crafted himself by just performing and practising. Beautiful.

I gotta say, I don't necessarily love the guy's music, but someone who plays guitar, has an actual voice and writes some of their own music is rare to come by on the radio

Not a fan of his type of music but there's no doubt he's talented and its always so pure and heart warming to see someone come from nothing and make it big.

Seen his Concert a few months ago in Bangkok, absolutely fabulous. How he creates the music in front of you alone on the stage with a mike a guitar and a few gadgets is amazing.

He’s just a guy that worked hard and loved what he worked hard on and people liked what he worked on, they liked his voice and messages in his music, and eventually he grew a big fan base and became one of the best artists of this generation, not going to say the best because there are a lot of people who wouldn’t agree with that.

Even back then he knew how to work an audience and how to get the best sound out of a big space. Smart.

Thank god he didn't decide to waste his talent on X Factor because he'll be on some TV show and have one album from winning the show..- This is pure dedication and really shows that he worked his way up.

Don't try to change the world.. find something that you love, do that for the rest of your life and eventually the world will change

Many young people want to be famous but it’s hard work even with talent. Ed did more than a 1000 small gigs before he had a hit song and album.

Well, someone who can sing and play and capture the audience like this should have success. Ed here already appears very professional and confident to entertain.

I love watching how engaging he is with the audience. Sometimes, large concerts aren't the most personally experiential but I feel like live music in a relatively small crowd makes some serious magic happen. Ed Sheeran is so capable of harnessing that magic and it's incredible to watch that here.

I had no idea he used to loop pedals and didn't have a touring band till I saw him live in 2018. My respect for his music tripled instantly when I saw that. He's amazing and this is super cool to see :)

Both Ed Sheeran and Glen Hansard are my two favorite artists because they are both artists that started off performing for peoplevon the streets and ended up becoming incredibly famous artists through they're pure, raw talent. Their stories are so similar in different ways and it makes me think that they are somehow connected.

I feel like this must be something he really wishes he could still do. just go into a station and gather a small crowd that can just enjoy his music silently without really knowing who he is. Now he can barely leave his house without getting bum rushed by people

He was already quite famous when he did this. Very well managed career from a young age - his team even got him to play in Hollywood for celebrities etc when very young. Was in National Youth Theatre and British Youth Music Theatre while studying at Access to Music and the prestigious Academy Of Contemporary Music. Doing gigs at events and small venues with fellow artists was normal - recorded singles/EP in studios from a young age. Carefully managed by Stuart Camp and middle-class family who 'arranged' things for him and a PR team that released stories about a young guy living rough, sleeping on floors and playing in dirty pubs. Don't be fooled - hugely talented, but carefully managed. Also, he is a great songwriter - but it's worth investigating what happened to Johnny McDaid when he took a break from Snow Patrol - McDaid is getting royalties on most of Sheeran's biggest hits as a co-writer, but you would never know. We are only fed what they need us to know!!
