Ed, you and your team have taken a long time dream of mine and made it into a reality. I didn't have the means to make it happen years ago but it's reassuring through VINwiki's success that people still care about stuff like this. Flashy editing and vlogs aside, the passion is what fuels this kind of thing and that.... that is the real prize. I've based my channel on documenting all things automotive on the East Coast for 9 years now, and I haven't let go of this dream. Hopefully one day I can find myself on your channel and vice versa. Until then, keep the stories flowing!

"no one has that long of an attention span" Ed must have forgotten that the AMAs have a combine view total of 600k so far with 3 hours of combine run time lol, love you guys! Working on my own channel and getting advice from you and Bob Wulff and a few others is awesome! Given I am working on a car channel hopefully one day I can make it in to that chair with a few of my hellish stories from working at GM dealers and some retail parts stores!

Ed, I think it's great that VINwiki has done so well. I think the growth of your channel and others may be due in part to people (car guys and gals), seeking out quality entertainment. With the diminishing quality on network tv, people will tend to find other sources of entertainment. I remember when you had 10K subscribers and hoped there would be enough interest for more. I was not disappointed. Looking forward to 1M.

Your channel has great stories and people and that's what we love. To be fair, it doesn't hurt that it's also a great source to find additional channels worth following while you guys are between videos.

Out of the hundreds of videos i have watched between here and the Vinwiki channel, this is my favorite. Whenever Ed gives some advice or tells a story i feel like he's my father. Very honest and kind way of delivering any message.

I watch all the top car channels like yours, DDE, Life of Palos, VV and others. I have learned, though indirectly, of things but this was the "structural" part that was needed. And YES, please make a video about revenue. That would be fantastic. Lastly, what software do YOU use?

3 videos a week would kill me (in addition to my real job)... I'm making repair videos and tool reviews/tech tips and getting 2 out a week is a ton of work with project videos in particular. I've only been at it a couple of months, and in my own way I'm really blown away by how many people have stopped by to take a look. I really appreciate the inside baseball here, Ed. To toss another tip out that I heard someone else say (can't remember who), but has really hit home for me is that KZfaq is like taking up a new sport or playing a musical instrument. You can't expect to be successful immediately. You have to consistently work at it and have your mind in the future as you're working toward today.

It's been very fun watching the VINWiki channel grow and hear all of the often-very-relatable car stories. Best of luck with continued success!

Great info, definitely agree on the consistency thing. I've seen my channel grow way more when I have time to get videos out every week, and way less when I get busy with work and life stuff.

I love the channel and stories, and I love the idea of VinWiki and what it is supposed to be. Maybe it's because I'm not an iPhone user, but VinWiki itself is so hard to use that I walked away. I'd love to come back and use it if the platform were improved though.

My KZfaq channel on car buying and negotiating has recently seen some major traction over the last couple months to 10K subs, and every video is under 10 minutes. I'm going to give a few videos a shot at longer than 10 minutes like you said. BTW, you must get asked a TON.. are you Armenian?

Fantastic Channel, no wonder it's growing the way it is. Very enjoyable. I didn't find my Niche for what I want to do with my channel until about a year ago. It's mostly old stuff old cars and abandoned exploration. Since I got more content-specific I've gotten a thousand Subs in about a year. I'll never be a big Channel, but I'm really enjoying doing it. Keep up the great work, I watched pretty much all of these stories lol

Nail on the head on consistency. I figured that out quickly just by observing the most successful channels on KZfaq. I don't have my own channel but I practice observing all things that have to do with marketing. McDonald's is the perfect example for consistency -- it certainly isn't their product but their consistency that has made them who they are.

Also heard only 1% of channels come to anything. Really interesting, i almost started a yt channel just before adpocalypse but never took the plunge. Cant do the 2-3 years with no $ you got to do as a new channel. Glad you made it good luck.

Good tips Ed! I find the ads to be a tricky balance... I really want my subs to grow which is more likely with less ads but then my video will rank lower... (I’m all about growth, the revenue is meaningless right now)
