Well, we could say that the Pioneer was inspired by the Soldier's knife, but not the way as many people think. The Pioneer was introduced in 1957 already. It was obviously designed with the intention to replace the fiber scaled soldier's knife of that time, and it did become the basis of the Alox Soldier (model 1961), the only major change was the redesigned reamer. So the Alox Soldier was based on the Pioneer, not the other way around.

Using the wire stripper that way is a popular "life hack". You don't need to do this to strip a wire... Also, I'm pretty sure that this is not the intended way of using it because: think about a Swiss Champ where the there are several layers of tools between the bottle opener and the blade...
