How did she learn English that quick? And blend the accent in. 23 here....according to her she didn't lean English till she was 19. Recent interviews you hear more of an accent than you would here. Damn talented actress she is.

Tina Pham I had a lot of friends in high school who spoke africaans. They picked up English super fast. Smart people maybe plus living in English speaking country no choice. Plus they do learn English at school it’s just not always their first language

As Afrikaans first language South Africans, we all know English very well. But you never really speak it if you don't have to and as a result you are very shy to speak it. I went to Afrikaans school and university, so only really started speaking English when I started working. But you do know it already, if that makes sense.

Yes im afrikaans and till this day I cannot speak English properly, its like the guy said above , we dont speak it if we dont need to , and she started watching Hollywood films by 16 or 18 and she would for hours on hours mimic them , thats how she learned the accent so fast

Talent agencies will hook actors up with dialect coaches and language teachers. Ana de Armas could barely speak english when she arrived in the states but her team sent her to daily intense english classes. The hollywood machine has the resources to make things happen.
