The two *_Eddie and The Cruisers_* films are timeless.. because that is what real talent and such really is about: being great above and beyond. Eddie Wilson is an archetype/paragon that few singer/songwriters live up to. Every generation has a few.. and far too many pretenders.

There kind of wasn't a full need for a part 3 but imo 2 needed a better ending still. There was a lot there left to examine once he revealed his name fully. The movie just ignores all the implications and focuses on the concert which imo was a mistake.

@@efan2012 o you would rather have the film going in to the legal ramifications of someone declared dead by law over a decade prior, trying to get his life back in the legal sense, sueing satin records for cashing in on his name for said time. The only thing wrong with Eddie 2 was they couldn’t get Tom Berringer to come back to play Frank The Wordman. The way they dubbed him out in the flashback scenes was sloppy. But it was good to see what happened after the end of the first movie and hear some more John Cafferty
@Kalentros2 жыл бұрын
I agree with the sloppy edit. But I think it's better to have it be Sal. Frank and Joanne found their happiness together but Sal was the one who still needed closure.

Agreed 100%. Trying to shoehorn Sal into the character The Wordman was obviously supposed to take, just didn’t work for me. Anyone that knew the original Eddie and the Cruisers shook their head when they saw the relationship between Eddie and Sal in the 2nd. Originally Sal was the Rick Diesel member of the band. Someone seeking the fame and wanting the music to be radio friendly to get the fame. An opposite to Eddie whose audience was only himself.

I respectfully disagree.JC was stymied by music execs who dismissed him as a Springsteen clone - without these movies most of us would have never heard his name. The real problem that shortened their success is that their albums not connected to movies were... ordinary (with the exception of "Small Town Girl") Someone - again I think it's fair to blame music execs that didn't give him creative space (I don't know this, I'm speculating) who were not as good as Kenny Vance at bringing out the band's best work. The talent is there all the way through, just not great song selection for the most part except on the soundtracks.

In a way it's interesting. Someone close to you dies and you grieve and then move on. Maybe you have regrets. Maybe you wish you could take back some things and have just have 10 minutes to set things right. Years go by and of course that person is gone and you can't do anything like that. But just suppose that person really wasn't dead like in this situation...so what do you do...you don't do anything like you thought...you just pickup where you left off...my father and older brother are gone. Lot's of things I wish I could put right...but you know if they walked through the door despite everything, I'm not sure how much would actually change...

This is without a doubt the lamest and poorest excuse for acting I've ever seen! I loved the first "Eddie" film, but wtf is this? These guys are supposed to have some sense of bravado, tough Jersey guys. Now, we get lines like "Shut up!" and "What kind of person does that to a friend?!" And the icing on the cake is when Eddie says "Come here, you" and embraces Sal. At this point, "Eddie and The Cruisers II" becomes a Lifetime movie.
@MisterWhat8 жыл бұрын
+mikehermetic What you just said makes absolutely no sense. Fiction is supposed to resemble real life Mr tough guy Jersey. If you claim you don`t like the acting for acting`s sake, that`s your perrogative, but this isn`t action or Noir. It`s drama.

Nothing stays the same. That’s why David Lee Roth is such a joke these last 20 years. He can still Scat with the best of them, but still plays the part of The Gigolo even in real life. If Eddie and Sal were the same ol’ guys from Jersey? The film would have been much worse. There is a certain romanticism about never growing up however. That’s why Thin Lizzy’ - The Boys are Back in Town works so well and why Robin Williams was perfect in Hook. Magic can be found all over, but it’s not what or who you are at home. Some it works for, some not.
