I wish i spoke 10th planet so I could understand what Eddie was saying.
@VinylUnboxings4 жыл бұрын
@awesomeguynamedjon I mean I guess, although considering how many schools there are and the relatively decent success of a few guys I wouldn't be quite so quick to discount it personally.

@awesomeguynamedjon That's such a poor analogy I'm not sure this discussion is worth it.
@StephenMoore7774 жыл бұрын
@awesomeguynamedjon that sounds like a pretty closed minded approach to learning things. Is it not ok to learn rubber guard too?
@kevinkanzler4954 жыл бұрын
@awesomeguynamedjon Bullshido? Haha do you even roll bro? Anywhere? Tony Ferguson is one of the best p4p mma fighters in the world right now. The Martinez brothers, Geo particularly, and Nate Orchard are phenomenal. Eddie himself beat Royler Gracie. Furthermore, no-gi jiu jitsu is more realistic to fighting than rolling with a gi. The Truck and lockdown position development is seen all over the Jiu Jitsu world now. A bunch of their shit has pushed the sport further tremendously.

I like to do a wiggle toejam when I'm in fleek guard. Then I transition into a bingo bango, slip around to the back and flip the dude into a purple sleeper, THEN you got him ready for the pope hat surprise. This is all 10th Planet 101 here people. GET WITH IT. Or, if you have wide hips, you can move from the teacup zinger into the mousepad buttplug, which we all know is no fun. The best thing to do, however, is just get the guy in the reverse jetpack and squeeze him until he's ready for the fish noodle.
@fautismus59934 жыл бұрын
I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Eddie throws that casually in conversation
@darrenstettner53814 жыл бұрын
That literally made me lol. The 10th planet lexicon really isn’t that complicated but the names you came up with are hilarious. There are several moves I know that don’t have any official name. I’m gonna start calling one of them the mousepad buttplug or the fish noodle.

I first walked into a BJJ school and I had Eddie's book rubber Guard. They made fun of me. Brazilians. You know what I did. I kept the book and used it all the time. Lockdown was and always will be my go to.
@codybrown13844 жыл бұрын
Typical Brazilians, Eddie is their superheroes kryptonite and proved it twice against Royler Gracie. A villain in their eyes.
@jumbroni60144 жыл бұрын
@@codybrown1384 yes. I was a new student when this started. I had little knowledge of BJJ. I assumed bjj was just all BJJ combined. Like every single technique possible. I soon learned that wasn't true. They told me Eddie had good stuff but my profesor was better. I won't mention his name out of respect. But out of 150 or more students, there was only 1or 2 guys that used any rubber guard. Like a quiet secret. But every time I went against a higher belt I would lock up their ankle in half guard. It's too effective not to use it. My butterfly guard sucked anyways. But that leg lock in half guard in my opinion is the greatest move from half. I learned many submissions from that 1technique. It opened my eyes to so much more. Plus alot of guys didn't like me cuz I was american white. I'm from BOSTON. We have alot of Brazilians here and I love them but they do have some feelings torward american white men.

If a 10P fighter can answer this for me. It looks like 10P bjj is unique on their back. Everything else is pretty much the same. Is that correct?
@charliesims73024 жыл бұрын
No it's all different. I'll give you one example of each one so this comment isn't miles long. In terms of positions the spider web is like a next level evolution of a standard armbar that allows for clinch work, limits defensive options and allows for camping in position. Monkey mount is our version of mount in which we dont load our weight on our opponents hips so that they can't bridge to escape also their arms are trapped. Reverse side mount faces backward toward the hips mainly as a means to execute twisters and get to all the crazy leg locks in the truck. In terms of passing we use a special hip slice similar to a knee slice but with a hip. Landing this way gives a clear path for inside heel hooks. There's of course more but these are some top game examples. We also use rides from wrestling.
@whatif7184 жыл бұрын
Charlie Sims we pretty much did the same things at my school just not as emphasized and with out the fancy names. For example we go over spiderweb and truck positions but since I’ve been there I’ve never seen any rubber guard stuff taught.

In muddy waters or dead orchard you can use the top leg (the straight one that finishes the sankaku) as an elevator under there same side hip if they stand. Use your clinch and lean back with your butterfly hook/elevator. You can also use a simple hip post with your foot regardless of which clinch position your in. The waiter sweep is good. All kinds of ways

It's a really efficient way to describe the transitionary positions like "leg on hip" or "trap the hand on the mat" .....sometimes those little adjustments you do to get to a new position can be very ambiguous to describe...but if you label the with a specific name it allows for you to be very concise and descriptive in communicating the position you're explaining. Great idea.
