It's a Private school game. If rugby made inroads into the public school domain, they would improve heaps.

Eddie has a point and he shouldn't shoulder all the blame. Times he's been made a scape goat but the issue is deeper. From global sense there's not much point in pouring resources in to AFL or NRL. The world is interested in Rugby Union not pity Aussie only spots.

Australia is as insular as the Americans when it comes to sport. They couldn't give a hoot what sports are played over seas. As Edie said, Union has been left in the dust from the NRL and AFL, very few play and even less watch, 99% of Australia wouldn't even know the World Cup is on right now. Add to this Rugby Austrlia is in 90m debt, it's a very deep hole we've got to get out of and even Eddie himself says he doesn't know how to fix it 😢

Aussie should revive their union rugby, I mean youre not seriously just gonna focus on league right? You're basically the only people playing it at top level aside from England, Pacific teams are just guys that lives in NZ and Australia. What's the fun in that 😂😂

I don't think NRL players or thier fans care about Internationals, just look at how many players fake injuries so they don't have to play 😅 NRL players are paid way more than Union players and the NRL is the worlds biggest Rugby comp by every metric, even blows the Top 14 out of the water....so I can't see how Union will ever be able to get the top players.

@@KRM85 nobody likes that but it's a strategic part of the game, you think it's boring but the fact that the whole world prefers it over just running into each other full 80 with nothing else to do says a lot🤣🤣

Rugby has become a lower tier sport in Australia. What killed it was 99' World Cup. Too much kicking became involved and it became less of a running game. Attack became keeping the opposing team in their half. There was no more Jonah Lomu tries that the World Fell in love with. Infact something like 90 per cent of England's points that World Cup were scored by Johnny Wilkinson - their kicker 🤔 When was the last time an Australian First Grade Club Rugby pulled more than 5000 spectators? A Super 14 in Australia match pulling in more than 20000 spectators? It's comparible to Basketball or Netball numbers in Australia now. Even A-League are pulling bigger numbers. Qantas pulled out as their major sponsor. It's not Centralizing though it's Alignment. Don't put words in my mouth.

The game is dead and this is a good thing. Australia is a small country and it plays too many sports already. NRL and AFL are the dominant games of the moment. One day, if there is cultural shift away from contact sports because of head injuries, then soccer will take the place of NRL. Rugby is finished. It was fun while it lasted.
