Күн бұрынSalsa music legends Eddie Montalvo, Johnny Rodriguez and Orestes Vilato sit in and play with Los Angeles band "The Echo Park Project". During the event "Music Empowers 6th annual gala! in Los angeles these percussionist and other great musicians were honored. During the last song of the night they were asked to sit in with the band even though there was no rehearsal. They played Ray Barreto's "Cocinando" and took solos.

Johnny Dandy Rodriguez on bongos, Vilato on timbales, those two where the originals from that song Cocinando, from Barretto. Too bad Ray Barretto passed away back in the early 2000’s. But Eddie Montalvo in the congas is a maestro himself. Amazing how we grow old, but our hands stay young! Still playing strong those three. Dandy Rodriguez taught me a lot on the bongos throughout the years. Not personally, but watching his KZfaq videos. Thanks. My bongo playing has enriched my life in so many ways!

@@marcogil6665 Yes!, turn the hardware inward so your inner thighs fit in between and make contact with the wood. They’re a lot more comfortable that way. And play every day

Y todavia y los 3 son multi instrumentistas . Simplemente son " Percusionistas ". Tu te refieres a el Dandy cuando los tiempo de la tipica . Todo depended el tipo de agrupación y las nesecidades de casa numero segun. los arreglos .

De hecho cuando fueron a Cuba a demostrarle los instrumentos LP el estaba en las tumbadoras . Y ¿ nunca has vista a Vilató en tumbadoras ? Imagino que eres jovencito y con poco bagaje en la musica para hacer ese comentario . Y Montalvo es un caballote en bongo y timbales ...el percucionista siempre tiene su preferencia pero somos diestros en todo tipo de percución , tanto major como menor . Sabes que cosas como tocar Maracas y Guiro (macho o de guaguanco ) no es nada facil . Todo tiene una tecnica.

Si y te menciono la distinción del Guiro porque los Dominicanos , Venezolanos y algunos ritmos Colombianos utilizan " una Guira " y en Boriken , hablando con propiedad , en nuestra musica criolla lo que tocamos es un " Güicharo " .

Que Gran Exposición Musical, como para recordar a la Legitima The Fania All Stars de Jerry Masucci. cuando efectuaba los solos de Tumba y Quinto, en las Congas Mr.Ray Barreto el famoso "Hard Hand" de la Salsa Clásica, y en los Bongos era Roberto Roena (el del Apollo Sound), Y como No Reconocer con Honores al Gran Maestro de los Timbales Full Percusion, Orestes Vilato, integrante original de la Fania All Stars , como en los conciertos del Cheetah. Que grandes exponentes los de ahora como Eddy Montalvo, en las Congas, y Dandy Rodriguez en las Congas, (gran integrante de la Tipica 73)

Co~no Eddie in the f’ing pocket, ni mira pal lao. Dandy se puede tocar los bongós con la parte de atras de las manos y suena como candela. Y entonces Oreste se lo pasa por el forro como si tuviera 25 a~nos. Que clase ‘e mostros caballero!

El mero maestro de los timbales y tarolas el gran Orestes Vilató el mejor timbal de la banda del maestro Carlos Santana y que en mi humilde opinión no habrá otro como él .

@@SENC2014 ...pero cuando la busque hay que comprar la que es tono medio y chrome. Es la Limited Edition. Esa es la que esta tocando ahi. Suena diferente por su puesto. La unica diferencia es que la que el esta tocando ahi es hasta mas especial porque fue hecha pa el con una foto de el. Eso es lo que le estaba mostrando a Ore. La cara de el en el cuerpo del cencerro. Chevere. Suerte -Guaño

Dandy siempre fue mejor bongocero. Roeba tenía cerebro para la buena música y el baile, pero en cuestiones de tocar bongo Dandy definitivamente.

no hubo ensayo! Se supone que los estaban honorando. En un momento los invitaron a tocar y ellos no esperaban eso. lo hicieron en el momento y como ves estaba enfermo Dandy!

Those congas were already set up so Eddie had no choice but to use those. He did change the tuning to what they already had set up for him.
