Eddie Murphy REVEALS ‘Beverly Hills Cop 5’ Is Already in the Works! (Exclusive)

Eddie Murphy sat down with “Extra’s” Melvin Robert to talk “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” He opened up about how he has changed over the 40 years since the original, noting that now he has 10 kids and is a grandpa. He said the character Axel has similarly matured, and he explained why he considers Axel his most important role. Eddie also revealed that a script is already in development for a “Beverly Hills Cop 5”! Plus, he shared that he’s developing a new version of “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” with himself, Martin Lawrence, and a “who’s who” of comedians. “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” hits Netflix July 3.

I love the Axel Foley from the 80s, but an Axel that's 40 years older? I guess we'll just have to see, but I don't hold out too much hope that he'll have the same energy and love of life that the younger one had.

The Beverly Hills Cop movie franchise is pretty much my childhood, I grew up on that stuff. Eddie, Judge and John are like the Three Musketeers back together again. Everyone is excited to see them again.

Great interview! As for the evolution of Axel’s character, We meet with him in his early-mid 20s, being reckless, with no worry of consequence, But he has that innocent, angsty, charm, that makes it forgivable. When we last saw him in the 3rd movie, It’s now 10 years later, he’s in his 30s, And youth is no longer a crutch for him. He’s a grown man who is still reckless, Until it costs Inspector Todd his life. The one who warned him for 10+ years of what could happen if he messes up, pays the ultimate price for a grown man’s actions. From that point on, that changes Axel, And I think informs the person we see in this film.

No one else could play Axel Beverly Hills cop four was absolutely fantastic. It was one of the best movies that I have seen in the last 20 years no doubt about it. I absolutely loved it. Every single minute of it was exciting. It was funny and it was emotionally engaging and that is something you don’t find in movies very often anymore. I am ecstatic that they are working on the development of another sequel. If it’s anything like this most recent entry, it will be phenomenal.

Just saw the movie. It's a really cool nostalgia piece. I loved seeing all the actors again, the scenery, and the soundtrack kills. However, the director needs to change his approach to the shooting. The movie looks like an episode from a TV show. It has that glossy view.

Honestly the only way forward now would be to do a crossover with another franchise. Bad Boys is the obvious one & you know they'd all be up for that. I enjoyed BHC 4, but it doesn't need a direct sequel. Nostalgia only goes so far before it starts to feel stale. Give audiences something they haven't seen before. Beverly Hills Cop V Bad Boys would be exactly that!

The interview needed better questions. Eddie Murphy is one of the biggest Hollywood stars ever, so no need to ask him questions about which celebrity he wants to meet and if he gets nervous or star-struck. These are the types of questions you ask a young actor who has just finished his first movie.

There has to be the nutty professor 3 to show Sherman his wife and kids. I have a script... Sherman has to retire as a professor and juggling with 5 kids that can be played by Murphys own kids with fat make up. Loses his wife (Janet Jackson) then comes up with an invention of time travel or something big.... no pun intended then goes back relive there memories over the past 25 years and gets his wife back. What you think of that script Eddie Murphy ?.
