He is not in the Country Music Hall of Fame but there’s a big push to get him there. However, he has been recognized by the industry, more than I ever knew. Businesses that typically use licensed music include broadcast and television, satellite radio, nightclubs, hotels, restaurants, theme parks, and similar venues. BMI collects license fees from each user of BMI-licensed music and distributes them to its writers and publishers. A BMI "MILLION-AIR" Certificate (not to be confused with "millionaire") is awarded to songs that reach more than one million media performances or "airs." The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame reports that twelve of Eddie’s songs earned BMI's “MILLION-AIR” status.” "Drivin' My Life Away" and "I Love a Rainy Night" were performed more than three million times each, and "Kentucky Rain," "Step by Step," and "Suspicions" notched more than two million performances each. Based on an average length of three minutes, one million broadcast performances are the equivalent of 50,000 hours or 5.7 years of continuous airplay!
