Eddie plays this with the 1-2-4 fingering, not 1-3-4. This is to enable more strength, very common to see in legato players like Allan Holdsworth.

the fingering doesn't matter as long as the right notes are played.

@@shane1v It does, the notes are the same but not the tone depending on how you play them ;) The hard thing with the original fingering is the stretch between the index and the major on the lower strings, I've tried my best here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gMdmgs2elt2nhWg.html - had a hard time because of the branch of the explorer shaped body preventing to position the hand well to stretch the fingers bruh But once you got it is definitely more comfortable to play it that way and opens up a lot of new things playing-wise!
