The Jaguar F-Type R is one of the sexiest and best sounding sports cars to be released in recent years. But what is it like to live with one and drive one on a daily basis? I got the keys to this beautiful car and spent lots of time driving it around to find out what it's like to own one!

I'm actually leaning towards your channel coming from parker's. His clickbait overdramatic overpumped videos is starting to get annoying. Your videos is the way they were when I decided to subscribe to vehiclevirgins. I feel like when you left, you took that awesome stigma with you.

I'm driving an XE right now. Coming from a Chevy Cruze, it's practically like I'm in a supercar lol, so much fun to drive. But the F-Type must be absolutely INSANE! Great video man

I have an XE-S and while it's the V6 I still think the exhaust sounds great especially compared to a similar BMW or Audi. And you're right, with a German car they drive amazing and everything seems perfect, but once I drove the Jaguar my heart couldn't let go. That's why I bought mine! F-Type maybe one day! Don't know if my car is interesting enough, but I'm in Chicago area and you're always welcome to make a video on it ;) :)

I’m glad I got the convertible because you can hear all the cracks and pops much better. The interior of the coupe is nice and quiet, but with the windows closed, its hard to hear them with the windows up.

Couple of comments. 1) Makes me smile or laugh whenever I drive without my wife in the passenger seat. 2) Disconnect the auto start from its dedicated battery under the trunk floor and never have to switch the stupid thing off again. 3) Dunno, I never thought that the gas mileage was too bad. Just running around Tampa we get between 16 and 18 mpg and I love to run it pretty hard. On freeway drives between Tampa and Miami keeping it around 70 mph it seems to do around 23 mpg. I've been impressed although having this type of car, gas mileage should really be irrelevant. 4) The convertible gives one the full benefit of the exhaust in Dynamic Mode. I love it.

THANK YOU for another great and very honest review. Thank goodness you mentioned the super dated interior (everything except seats)... from gauges to infotainment/Nav screen...super dated. This car has the looks, sound and seats..that's about it. Another thing is reliability issue..it's a 'jag' after all...

Really informative as I’m deciding between an F-Type V8R and the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S (992) and it has clearly become a heart vs. mind tension. Having driven both, the F-Type V8R seems more fun to drive over the business-like 992...but the latter holds its value. Does the F-Type’s value sink like a stone? Appreciate your perspective...

The fastest F-Type by far is the RWD version. The AWDs absorb 10% more HP than the RWD and add 300 lbs. The F-Type is the best all around sports car on sale today, and the RWD is shockingly fast at 3.10 to 60 mph, which is its hardest test bcs of traction. 1/4 mile in 10.70.

Awd is quicker. I got a 672whp jaguar xf and resently bought an f type r awd it makes around 620whp. I race both and the f type is alot quicker off the line all the way to the finish line it puts obout 5 car lenghs on the xf. From a roll or at the track is a different story xf gets off the line quicker than the f type on 17 inch slicks

I’ve never dealt a turn signal or wiper stalk that makes me think man this is fuckin nice... it’s an accessory stalk. They are pretty much all the same except for some are slightly harder or easier to flick

You pointed out the main problem with the coupe, when you said you put the windows down to hear it. As a convertible owner, I can tell you that top up/down is night day. Coupe owners have no idea what the car sounds like. Windows up/down makes no real difference. Second, the V8 gets 31 mpg on the hwy cruising in 8th which is geared for 325 mph at redline. Thats not good enough for a 3 sec car? There are good looks and bad looks. Getting looks in the i8 is like getting looks when you leave your fly open.

Considering getting the f type, but I´m 206cm/6´9 and understand that if I by any means wanna fit in this car on a daily I´ll have to get really thin carbon seats mounted directly to the floor in order to actually fit in this car. How tall are you and what do you think of my thoughts above? Doable considering my height? Cheers man!

Go to a dealer and sit in one. The 2019-2020 have slimmer seats and more space. But with 2014-2017 models you are pretty screwed

Strange, I was comparing, my now purchased Cayman GTS, driving back to back with a Jaguar v8, and I found it lacking in sound department in comparison. I think it was mostly because Despite it’s loud crackles (the Cayman also has them), but the pitch wasn’t very tasteful for my subjective view. It felt less exhilarating (but maybe that’s because of cayman’s mid engine chassis and you can feel the engine move in your seat)

My biggest complaint is the headrest. It's like in between my shoulder blades. Otherwise it's not bad. I've spent a couple hours in one on road trips, but there are more spacious cars in the segment

hahaha, I wish I went through only a quarter tank in a day.. I get an average of 12MPG in my trucks.. But god, that thing sounds so much better than either my Rover V8, or BMW 4.4 lump

Best car I’ve owned to date, but I could still buy the rwd for 2016 here in Aus. IMO the rwd suits the muscle car character more than awd, having the rear end move around so easily under throttle given the instant torque of the belt driven charger just adds another element to the driving experience - got out of an r35 and haven’t looked back

Totally agree Sam. I also live in Aus and had the choice of RWD or AWD. And no way was I going to diminish what is one of the best things about the R. That immense grunt that comes from the rear wheels. There are plenty of systems in the RWD to accommodate for the sideways movement that ensues. Granted the weather conditions where I live are incredibly favourable with no ice, snow or even rain, most days being an issue. So AWD was a moot point really. The other problem I have with the AWD is that it totally ruins the bonnet design. I thing the stand alone power bulge with the original vents of the RWD is far more aesthetically pleasing than the AWD. Not to mention honouring the E-Type's design more faithfully.

What do you know about Jaguar reliability over time, Eddie?

Most common issues are electrical. But it's about as reliable as you'd expect of a modern cars. After a couple years it'll start having issues. But it's not nearly as bad as something like a mclaren for example. I'd say it's on par or slightly more reliable than most equivalent german cars. The v6 being more reliable than the v8, simple because it has less power to deal with.

AWD is a big factor in why fuel mileage is bad. Buy a seperate set of snow tires+rims instead of AWD.

mike anderson dude, the rwd S 2014/15 is really not drivable. I enjoyed my day with it, but you need to babysit the back end to a stupid degree. Made me literally miss my boxster. I wouldn't recommend it..Anyway, who cares, if you're buying this vehicle who cares on the gas $. Highway can get you 28-30 mpg real world!

The V6 is a poor compromise as it's basically the same engine as the V8 but is nearly as heavy even with 2 pots removed. The RWD V8 is the one to go for.

This is perhaps one of only few proper Jags left, the IPace thing is bloody stupid, the F Pace is for Chelsea wives, the E Pace is also bloody stupid, and there's only 2 cars in the range which are offered with the 5.0 litre supercharged V8! (Excluding the limited edition project 8). Nevertheless, Jaguar has the time to produce some hideous diesel sh*tboxes like the E Pace, yet they don't offer a V8 in the XF??? Like WTF
