Davids is for me the best DM ever. His combination of skill, toughness, tenacity, engine and sheer ferociousness was/is unmatched.

This guy had the tenacity of the old school midfielders like Gattuso or Roy Keane, mixed with the pace and dribbling skills of a winger, plus a cannon of a left foot. Absolute baller!!

Football in the '80s, '90s and early 2000s was plenty of defenders and defensive midfielders like Davids. They were the real reason why guys like Ronaldo Nazario, Batistuta, Signori or Shearer were not scoring 40 goals every single season, unlike nowadays when every year a new record is broken due to the ridiculous defending. People today say Ramos or Chiellini are the toughest guys in football... Back then, guys like them they were just normal defenders.
