I take traditional Korean martial arts and just tested for my first dan black we broke real boards pine in are testing. We are with WTF and also I am assistant instrutor helping with classes I believe is more rewarding then the training itself.

Over at ATA in Tewksbury our lead instructor is a master in MMA and other fight techniques and our other instructor is a master in akido so I'd say what we learn is pretty practical.

Those guys in my Taekwondo studio would be considered a orange belt or a yellow belt. Not a red or black belt. I'm sorry but ATA has really gone downhill since it's creation.

This is so sad. Back in the 1980's the American Taekwondo Association was a legitimate organization that taught high quality Olympic-style Korean Martial Arts. It was absolutely nothing like the circus act in this video at all. People who earned Black Belts back in the 80's from ATA really did know Taekwondo. H.U.Lee would NEVER have allowed this.

I started WTF Taekwondo it took about 2 years 7 months almost 3 years to earn my 1st Dan, these ATA black belts and red belts have the same skill level as a blue belt in my class.

they didnt even touch each other in sparring!! bahaha

I hope those little kids realize that in a real fight, yoh won't be covered head to toe in foam armor and people will actually try to hit you

No i know exactly what i'm talking about. Olympic TKD is WTF taekwondo.The original TKD is ITF taekwon-do and was created to kill. ATA is just a bullshit mcdojo that make thier own rules. I practise the traditional ITF ( International Taekwon-do federation) Created in 1966. My master was a student to the great General Choi hong hi and i am pretty sure that it is correct. these breaks their doing for a black belt test are way too easy and are considered lower belt rank level breaks. I doubt any of em would be able to execute any type of advanced kick and hand break flawlessly! and WTF is up with those oversize foot and hand protectors for sparring ? and wearing those oversize foot and hand protectors for breaking ?? Definitely not Taekwondo at all !!!

Jeez the fade to black every change of scene is annoying and too damn frequent. It's hiding the poor techniques so maybe you did it on purpose
