“It’s no joke. We’re almost under the ocean.”
The Arctic community of Tuktoyaktuk in Canada is at risk of destruction from climate change. Rising seas are swallowing their land, and with the Arctic warming three times faster than the planet as a whole, their way of life is rapidly vanishing.

I'm torn with feeling sadness for the lives now. When that settlement started with just a small singular accommodation type, I'm sure they didn't expect this level of pressure.

I loved this. It conveyed the truth of climate change through the beauty of people connected to the land and ocean... the beauty of their way of life versus an unfolding global tragedy.

Just as great a tragedy is the fact that many bush villages have lost so much of their original cultural traditions. They’re now almost totally dependent on imported, expensive, store bought foods and petroleum fuels for heaters, snowmobiles, cars, boats, etc, which are all imported by barge. Few people use dog teams any more except for recreation.

@@foxylady9110 the same reason is did it 12,000 years ago, and the time 20,000 years before that. You or any human, or group of humans cannot will not and do not change the climate because of you’re V8 that burns oil from the ground… volcanoes do the exact same thing and the earth still kicks. You do know it’s been here for a long time before you and will continue to spin long after you’re gone… along with your crack pot delusions of being an effect on the planet.

@@coachpowers1 Christ I just asked a simple question and I get this dribble reply back….where do you deduce my “ crack pot delusions” from a simple question , and for your information here in UK I drive a Fiat 500 which is hardly a V8

10 Best quotes about poetry. 1. "Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility." - William Wordsworth 2. "Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion; it is not the expression of personality, but an escape from personality." - T.S. Eliot 3. "Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words." - Robert Frost 4. "Poetry cannot afford to lose its fundamentally self-delighting inventiveness, its joy in being a process of language as well as a representation of things in the world." - SEAMUS HEANEY 5. "If I read a book and it makes my whole body so cold no fire can ever warm me, I know that is poetry." - EMILY DICKINSON 6. "Poetry is a river; many voices travel in it; poem after poem moves along in the exciting crests and falls of the river waves. None is timeless; each arrives in an historical context; almost everything, in the end, passes. But the desire to make a poem, and the world's willingness to receive it--indeed the world's need of it--these never pass." - MARY OLIVER 7. "Poetry: the best words in the best order." - S.T. Coleridge 8. “A good poem is a contribution to reality. The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it. A good poem helps to change the shape of the universe, helps to extend everyone’s knowledge of himself and the world around him.” -Dylan Thomas 9. “Poetry might be defined as the clear expression of mixed feelings.” -W.H. Auden 10. "If poetry comes not as naturally as the leaves to a tree it had better not come at all. " - John Keats •Which is your favourite quote? •Add yours in the comment box if we missed any.

I would be least concerned with what they are saying or what their petty issues are. If anything, it sounds like first world problem. Lol They come from rich country and can always move to the south of Canada to avoid this. There is plenty of land available for them to move in. This is not poor people of Bangladesh who don't have money or land to move out. Grow up. Stop complaining. 🙏

Hmm yes of course, "Just move south lmao". You know, back to their original homelands that they were forced out of because of Western Europe's colonizer trash. Yes very smart solution. What incredible worldview you must have to carry such an informed opinion. How do you think a colonizer country that is continually antagonistic toward First Nations and Metis communities are going to respond to a large influx of migrants from the Arctics?

You could always you know, do what most people did and migrate somewhere warmer. Yeah its great being out in nature, living off the land etc but at what point do you say, ok its time to get things going and move before my family gets swept away instead of waiting for the world to do something about it. Time to get educated and get a real job.
