Oscar® nominee Tom Cruise (the "Mission: Impossible" films, "Collateral," "Jerry Maguire") and Emily Blunt ("The Devil Wears Prada," "The Adjustment Bureau") star in Warner Bros. Pictures' and Village Roadshow Pictures' sci-fi thriller "Edge of Tomorrow," under the direction of Doug Liman ("The Bourne Identity," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith").
The epic action of "Edge of Tomorrow" unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.
Major William Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop-forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again...and again.
But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Watched this 4 years ago, and I still remember how I was emotionally captivated by every scene and every moment this movie showed me. You know it's a very good movie when you feel soaked up by the emotions of the characters and vividly imagining like you're experiencing their world.

At first when I started watching this movie I thought that it was gonna be just another boring ass movie about some guy killing alien monsters...I'm glad to say I was wrong. This movie is really great, with amazing plot and superb acting. 10/10 - would watch it again.

Not a 10/10 for me, the first 20 minutes of the film was really cheesy, but apart from that it was incredible. I'd give it an 8.5/10 and I'm definitely going to get this on Blu Ray.

+hexagon523 I really enjoyed how it went from almost a comedy(all the funny bits in the beginning while he's slowly learning to be a soldier/trying to save others) to a full-on action movie by the end. My favorite funny bit is when he first tries to roll under that truck to sneak away. **roll...squish**EeeeyaaahhhhH! Major Farell-What were you thinking boy? lol

At first I thought this movie was not gonna have the cliche of weird twists. I was disappointed that it was another futuristic us vs aliens movie that could've had amazing battle sequences turned into a cliche twist in plot. God I want want to see regular futuristic movies of alien wars. 0/10 will never re watch.

This gotta be the most underrated movie of all time. I still remember, back when it had released people weren't ready to accompany me to the theatre and how I had to watch it all alone. There were hardly 4-5 people in there. They still don't know what they ended up missing. This flick was revolutionary.

@@vr_gamer.814 This tends to be the case for underrated movies. At release it won't garner much attention but after a year or so, people realize the movie was actually underrated. Underrated being the initial reception which prompts people to watch certain movies.

I had a similar experience with the first Matrix movie. Invited a couple of buddies to watch with me and they refused citing that it was going to be dumb. They did eventually watch it, after I insisted they would love it, and they were blown away by how good it was. Edge of Tomorrow is the same.

I was trying not to get hyped for this movie, because that usually ends in disappointment, but I was really excited for it. 2 and a half years later, it's still a movie I love almost everything about. The humor, the action, the character development; just spot on.

My guess is because it's a mix of action, sci-fi, dark humor and really quite an intelligent storyline it was really hard to market and create trailers for that convey what this movie is all about. It's telling that pretty much everyone who saw it absolutely loved it and said that it was such a positive surprise and much better/even better than expected. I mean it is nearly at an 8 rating on Imdb, which isn't easy to achieve at all.

Love how they are not showing the aliens here. It was a surprise to see how cool and unique they looked. This was one of those movies that you go in with low expectations ('dumb alien action flick") and get blown away by how good it is.

Can't describe by the words how amazing this movie is. I haven't heard about it but when I saw it just blew my mind. What an amazing concept and what an amazing story. I feel so bad for the people who had to create the trailers. They couldn't really give away much but it still needed to make sense. Plus, the dark humour is so difficult to get across in the trailer. Loved this movie.

The first few minutes of the movie made me lose interest. Felt so generic. After the first reset, I got curious and had to watch to see how they would explain such a thing. Then I was hooked till the end.

It didn't look cheesy, it looked bleak and depressing. Then I saw the movie and while it did have some humour (so it wasn't depressing), it was still very tense and action packed. So everyone ended up enjoying it.

That's what I was going to say. Not sure why its doing so bad maybe cause of bad marketing, bad choice of moive title, or bad luck ( that the rumors) still its a great film.

Tom Cruise is a video game character, and the player keeps dying and returning to last checkpoint. We see everything from the character's perspective, so when you die when playing a video game, you kinda traumatize the video game character. Don't die in a video game.

Really? I kill my character every chance I get. And if I respawn near the body. I blow it up and watch the body parts bounce around. Then rate the gib based on how good the body parts bounce around, and the blood spatter. Oh look a cliff. Let's jump off it. oh look a wall. Let's fire a rocket/grenade launcher in it at point blank range. Oh boy! Nuclear Bazooka!!!! Party Time ;)

Didn't watch it in cinema because most of the comment I'd read was negative. My cousin bought the DVD yesterday and he was surprised how the good the movie was. He was like "man this is the best movie!" So I watched it for my self and I was speechless and saying it was awesome might be an understatement. I knew that some comments on KZfaq are biased but I never did expect that it can be so misleading. This movie is without a doubt, one of the best of all time.
