That feud was so ridiculous. So the big bad heel steals the hero’s girl, and then wins the feud sending Matt into a wasteland with no momentum and buried. Made no sense. Matt had all of the fan support and would’ve made a big run had he beat Edge the last PPV.

Edge was bringing better attention to the WWE and he still does to this day. He outshines Matt in so many ways, WWE just went with the better star. They put their money on Edge. He draws better numbers. Matt Hardy definitely has a fan base and they know that, but his fans are kinda die hard and they really aren't going anywhere but not everybody was feeling Matt Hardy so some ppl love him and other don't care but edge brought all eyes on the ring regardless of liking him or not. Matt just wasn't as good tbh.

I think it was because people just hated Edge more than they liked Matt. People showed up after this go Boo Edge, not to cheer for Matt at the same level. Company saw what they had in Edge and they took advantage. What Edge did was shitty, but as a wrestling standpoint, he was born to play that sleezy heel. And he’s one of the best to ever do it.

There's jobs they could be paid good money for that they don't have to literally destroy their bodies. The Dudley boyz, Edge and Christian, The Hardy's, those guys went through hell in those matches and it was all to provide an unreal experience for the audience. If you look at Jeff and Matt now, you can clearly see it still affects them. I don't think you could pay a person enough to do what they did if they weren't entertainers at heart.

This is definately 1 of those scenarios where kayfabe is stretched to the limit. Considering there was legit heat between them for what happened and Lita being involved as well . I doubt I would have been as professional about it . Though it did make for some great matches . Killer heat for Edge . Made him the most hated guy at the time . Made his career.

What stung was that Edge was seemingly rewarded for his adultry and was already planned for a push before the word got out and Matt was seemingly punished for revealing the affair and risking the original Edge Story though WWE haf to reward him with something or else risk alienating the audience that felt Matt was a punished victim that deserved vengeful justice.

At the very least, WWE should have allowed Hardy to "win" the feud against Edge but no, Hardy jobbed out. I lost a lot of respect for Edge when that affair came to light. He could had made excuses and assigned blame but instead he took his bumps, took responsibility for his role and moved on. For that Edge has regain the respect he lost.

I don’t know how long they dated, but I just know that he tried to date the tattoo artist that did his chest piece and she said she didn’t date clients😂. Then we would see those two together, and after they broke up my artist said they went out a couple times. And then he got married to AJ. She told me that he said he wanted to quit after the Taker match because he was tired and injured and they were making him work. She wasn’t a mark like me, but she said once they went out and SHE was the one telling people to leave them alone. He was taking pictures with people and stuff. I feel I understood him. The few interactions I had with him he never mentioned wrestling nor asked for an autograph. And a little bit after maybe 2016 I went to an ROH show. The first wrestler I met was Dalton Castle. He’s hilarious. First and only wrestler I have an autograph from was Jay Lethal who supposedly used to date AJ. Colt was there and I almost mentioned Punk and the podcast but I didn’t. All cool guys.

Then Edge cut a backstage promo destroying Matt and it pretty much cemented Edge as a main event player going forward. If you check it out on youtube, it's a good watch.

@@TruStoogeDrew. yeah drama does sale but in this case Matt Hardy actually had a real life restraining order against both Edge and Lita but because they both worked under WWE it was invalid while at work and WWE took advantage of that and forced them into a storyline and there's not a single person that was in that storyline that wanted that to happen they wanted it all to be settled behind the scenes they tried to get separated between Raw and SmackDown and that didn't work it's like he said they tried to make the best with a bad situation

They were both cool with the story line that’s why he was brought back to sell ppvs. Hardy couldn’t hang in the solo market. Yeah it sucks about the real life shit and break ups suck. Adultery is heart breaking, but Matt hardy handled it like a child. WWE wouldn’t have brought him back if it wasn’t guaranteed to sell tickets and if both parties were cool with it

I love Edge, I always have. And I know he's the best superstar out of the 2. So I completely understand that he won the storyline fued that came out of this. Especially considering the fact that not only was he already being pushed to win the title, but the legit heat he got from this made him one of the biggest heels ever. Having said that, I have never liked that Matt essentially never got pushed again after this. He was, for lack of a better term, punished for being in this situation and not being the better performer. Which isn't right, no matter what financial situation there may be......

They did give matt a chance with this fued with a promo and it was horrendous, so the week after edge mentioned how bad it was and ate him alive verbally and that he doesn't measure up to him in any way. Vince being in charge the whole time after this when matt dipped in and out again? Well he was always viewed the same way.

The feud could have been legendary, but WWE didn't see Matt Hardy as a real talent. So they used the feud to feed Edge storylines, while burying Matt all along the way. At the end, Edge looked better than ever and Matt was a loser who lost his girl and his reputation. Sad day for fans of the Hardy Boys.

At the time when all of this went down, i was shocked that Matt came back after he was let go. My friend at the time had a bunch of wrestling dvds and a handful of them had behind the scenes stuff with the Hardyz and Edge & Christian. And there was a clip of Matt and Edge messing around with the different filters the camera they were using. Just acting like a bunch of goofballs lol. So when the scandal broke out, i was floored. And I, like with most fans back then, were rooting for Matt. It would've been great to see Matt coming on top at the end. But lets face it, Edge wad the man back then. He was the definition of electric. It was sad to see Matt leave Raw. He did okay in SmackDown, but didn't he end up leaving/getting fired shortly after the feud ended? Anyway, through the grapevines of the internet, it sounds like all three parties have moved passed this road bump. Edge is doing great in AEW, Matt is doing something in TNA and Lita...I think is doing okay? I know Matt has a wife and family (have you seen their house!? Its crazy cool). I dunno if Lita is with someone or is just doing her own thing. All in all, I'm glad they've put the dirty past behind them.

Growing up as a kid and watching this unfold was just insane. Seeing the personal problems become the main storyline nothing but pure chaos. It was kinda like HHH vs HBK but from a betrayal standpoint but still the same. Best friends turned bitter enemies. Matt Hardy just coming out of nowhere like a phantom and attacking Edge was funny asf 🤣. I’m still upset about the SummerSlam botch of a match. But hey, 💩 happens 🤷🏾♂️, their careers elevated because of it. Like Edge said, if you hate me and want to kill me at least make money doing it.
