There is a lot of Huey videos out there, but this one really gets the sound right. I know because I was in Vietnam at the 241st Trans Co. , one of two helicopter support units in Vietnam.

My dad did 2 tours in Vietnam- in 66-67 as an ARVN advisor, then in 68-69 with the 101st. 30 years later in 1999 as an ROTC cadet I was able to catch a ride on a Virgina ARNG UH-1 from Fort AP Hill to a University of Richmond athletic field. One of the most memorable helo rides of my life.

The dragonfly showing up around 6:04 was a perfect. Sending off a machine based on its unique design.

This is my favorite helicopter of all time since 5 years old. I just love the sound of the Huey's blades. Can't get over it.

When seeing Huey & hearing the sound of Huey , it reminds me about those old days flying with American troops to the combat zones. I had a chance to take a trip from Ai Tu Air field to Sarge fire base near Khe Sanh with one of the American team advisor back in 1972 , this fire base was occupied by one of South VN Marine unit , luckily we got the oder to fly back Dong Ha in the evening otherwise we would have been hit with 122 mm rockets launched by the NVA that night . I would like to say thanks & appreciations to all American service members who had served in VN to help us defend the South . The result was disappointed but will never forget your contributions.

Every time I see a Huey, I immediately start humming Fortunate Son by CCR. That copter is still the beast.

The sound of a Huey taking off is a sound that, once you hear it, chances are you'll NEVER forget the first time you heard it for as long as you live.

I’ve only seen these wonderful helicopters in movies or videos I wasn’t around in he 70s when these were popular but I know they were the most durable helicopters out there maybe someday I’ll see one up close what a wonderful peice of aviation history

I had the privilege to fly these in combat back in the day on Nova Logic servers. Was able to take a lot of damage.

Dude the thump of a 2 blade huey never gets old to me. The 4 bladed ones just dont have the same sound. That deep "thwomp thwomp" you feel in your chest!

The us equivalent of the British spitfire from ww2. Both are beautiful functional and dashing aircraft that have captured the imagination and hearts of the world. Superb Huey ❤

Being able to fly in these is awesome man, love it.

In my unit in RVN, we flew without the cabin doors and often times even the cargo doors were removed. . I mostly flew D models but later in my tour we began to get H models. They were a big improvement in power and lift capability..

Whenever one thinks of a helicopter, huey uh1 comes in mind..Always..!! Great iconic helicopter. 👏

I flew in one of these bad boys at Whistler heliskiing for one of the most memorable times of my life. The sound of the the silence in the backcountry being pierced by the rising volume of the twin blades as it approached was unforgettable 🚁

As a former Huey Crew Chief, I would just to like to say this video is BO-RING! I was in Medevac, VIP, Ash/Trash and Troop Lift units. Never did I need to spend more than 60 seconds on start-up checks; EVERYTHING was already verified on the last flight's daily or current day's Preflight.

Sound absolutely perfect! No wind, no annoying noise! Nice! 👌👍👍

I was there in 68 with the 1st air cave division I can listen to the chopper all day long nothing better than that sound. We flew into combat zone with 50 of these birds combat loaded you guys have the big balls.

My grandfather (‘Nam vet) always said that a Huey’s props were exactly how angels sounded.

In my 30 year Army career, beginning in 1969, I logged several hundred hours in a UH-1 (numerous models). I had the misfortune to ride one into the ground, but the good fortune to walk away with the crew. What an airframe.

When the igniter start clicking, then the turbines kick in and finally, that wop…wop…wop! Love it!

Im an old 82nd Airborne Paratrooper. I made a jump from A UH-1H at Ft Bragg NC, Sicily Drop Zone. Unbelievable!!!! It was fantastic having your feet dangle off the edge of the door bay. There are 2 Sounds in this world that are UNMISTAKABLE: 1) The racking of a Pump 12 Gauge Shotgun, and 2)..... THE HUEY!!!😇❤️😇❤️😇❤️😇

Thank you for posting this video I love the sound of those blades especially when the pilot pulls up on the collectiv and the soldier walking around doing inspection is very intense with the safety of the chopper and the men inside it's a old aircraft and should have a walk around the way it was performed I love the Huey and wish I could fly with you all it would be a memory that I would cherish be careful and thank you for your service God bless our military men

When I hear the sound of this helicopter it reminds me of my youth when I was a parachutist and we jumped from these helicopters in Venezuela when this country was a democracy in the seventies and I will never forget the sound of these helicopter blades. some pleasant memories of this time.

We did a lot of helicopter insertion / extractions down in Panama (77-79 B 3/5 193rd Inf. Bde.). Those ended up being the fondest days of my 9 years in the US Army. Never knew it then but the Huey rides were coming to an end as the Black Hawks started showing up. To this day I get misty eyed when I hear a Huey inbound or doing a fly by. The forest service was just using 1 on a fire here in Utah. I now have 3 videos of it coming and going. Just something about that sound and what went with it back in the day. Jumping off of them with your alice pack, blaster and getting off the lz and setting up a perimeter. We even did the Stabo rig, 3 of us suspended side by side under the Huey with the end guys having their outside arm outstretched to stop us from spinning. Then we would be flown out over the pacific for about 10 min. then returned back to the jungle training site. God I miss those days. Recently started drinking from my 2 qt. canteen again just for the plastic taste. It too is a memory. Did you ever give thought that you had taken your last canteen drink? I yearn for some return of those nasty, prickly heat, mosquito infested, black palm days and at least this I can control, a simple little canteen, take a drink with your eyes closed and for 1-100,00th of a second I'm back in the jungle. Hard to believe I have been out for 35 years, OMG, I was in for 09 years 73-83 and did not understand those memories would haunt me as the greatest days of my life. No one out here has your back like your buddies had it. Live on Huey, live on you big bad bird!!
