The teacher's obsession with him makes sense now. Edward had to watch what he assumed to be a bum declare himself his rival for the top spot. And not just any alleged bum either, this kid was the bff of the girl that snatched his place the last time. And THEN to discover the boy actually had skills that dared to rival the magic he loves? Will's entire existence is a multi-layered insult to this teacher 😂 This man reminded me of Snape aesthetically but to think there were this many parallels 😂

The Andor line "Oppression is the mask of fear" fits Edward so well. He's so scared of Wil he doesn't let him arm himself. If he was truly confident in magic, that wouldn't have happened.

He could have gone all out from the beginning while Will had his sword but that wouldn’t have broken his spirit and that was Ed’s goal but he was smart enough to know Will would be a threat against him in those conditions. So in the end yes Ed did that D move because he was afraid.

I was jk with another reactor, but Elfie really looks like a female Gojo, and i now understand why the fangirls drool over him 😂 the animation, the fight, everything...looks amazing. Also, i wonder how is Edward sensei at his full potential. This man is a menace, good thing he's on "our side" (i think LOL).

Nah, it slowed down because of all the time he spent doing stories for the mobile game, and also he released 10 novels at once for the 10 year Anniversary last year. He's back to his normal schedule of two or three books a year. Danmachi vol 20 is set to come out later this year.

Imo, Edward lost as soon as he decided to use a magical barrier against Will because him using that barrier against someone without magic is proof that he's afraid/aware that he'll lose if he didn't have a barrier from the beginning. Also, all that talk about how a sword will never reach a wand while Will didn't even have a sword the whole fight, but as soon as he got one he proved him wrong. Heck, he probably would've won if Edward wasn't an underhanded punk who used a barrier.

Ed was so scared that this kid who couldn't use magic might surpass him that he decided the best course of action was to lure him out to an unfair fight and basically beat him down and demoralize him so much that he wouldn't even think of staying. Ed is a bitch and should be fired. This sort of behavior is unacceptable.

@@MsFeco12 A test without letting the one BEING tested use his or her best tools for the job ISN'T a test my friend. Will is on par with or exceeding most mages in that story with pure swordplay alone except for Ascendants (at the moment) when they bring their all to the fight. You're using your best tool as a mage, which is your wand, but you aren't letting a magical /physical swordsman use *his* sword? What kind of cracked test is that? Look what happened when the conditions were equalized after Will got his sword, he sliced through the dark magic beams AND smashed through the shield, delivering a cut to Edward too. And this was *after* he had taken a beating one-sidedly without his sword.

@@yanamandram123 I never said it was a fair test. I replied to the statement that Edvard was scared. He wasnt scared of will as i said because he could have blown up the whole school if he wanted. He used low level spells in the whole fight. Edvard is most likely scared because Will could prove his Idea is wrong not because he is stronger than Ed.

Reading comprehension is important. Edward used only two spells,a low level attack spell and a barrier. Will didn’t beat him straight up.

@@justmando9488 You're forgetting that Edward is a HIGH-LEVEL Mage who already made it to the top of the tower AND lost to the Magia Vanders there. At HIS kind of level, a BASIC spell itself carries a LOT of punch and power. Will is still a student. Not to mention, one still developing his skills in the dungeon. The conditions aren't equal from the get-go. You want to measure Will's strength fairly, put him in a battle royal against other mages of his own age and level. He'll whoop their asses if he's allowed to use his sword. Guaranteed.

@@ASageCalledQ Yes, but the fight continued for a long enough time without Will even HAVING his sword. Not to mention, Will after getting the sword was still in pain and hurting all over. BECAUSE he had no way to defend himself from them prior. Will is capable of actually slicing through magic with his ability. It didn't matter if Edward was only using a basic Dark Beam Spell and a Magic Barrier spell , he's a high level mage who ascended to the top of the tower but lost there. Of bloody course they're not equal - Will is still a student!
