Spirit en-Dal - I run this in Marisi, Breaker of the Coil. It's a great way to punch in for 5 commander damage and then goad all of that player's creatures.

Mono Red is for me the best deck to have snow lands only. Skred, Tundra Fumarole, Glacial Crevasses, there's just some pretty good cards that care about snow mountains. Great video!
@nickhughes81792 жыл бұрын
You get other snow cards like Frost Bite, Thermopod, and Rimescale Dragon too. Since you're running snow lands, don't forget Mouth of Ronom, Faceless Cavern, Scrying Sheets, Dark Depths/Thespian's Stage, and the Glacial Chasm/Crucible of Worlds combos.

Demo you actually just saved my life. My wife has been trying to make her black deck more power and just got Sidisi, Undead Viser as her commander and the plan is to recure her every turn for free with Dawn of the Dead. Problem is if the enhancement gets destroyed. I couldn't find any colorless ways to bring it back man thanks a million.

I’d check out Crystal Chimes! Similar effect :)
@qurangreen70412 жыл бұрын
Honestly brother same here... except I built a super streamlined mono black Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder deck that relies on churning out thrull tokens and using free sac outlets like the altars and whatnot turn the thrulls into mana. I have some nasty enchantments in there like Grave Pact; Dictate of Erebos; Bastion of Remembrance; Dark Prophecy; Mortuary; and The Meathook Massacre to get death triggers too. I added artifact recursion like Myr Retriever and Scrap Trawler to get back the altars if they get blown up but I couldn't find any way to get back enchantments if they get blown up... until now. Another decent way to get back enchantments, artifacts, and even other nonland cards like Planeswalkers, instants and sorcereis is Codex Shredder. Its a 1 mana artifact that lets you tap it to put the top card of a players deck into the bin OR pay 5 colorless to tap it and sac it to put target card from a graveyard into your hand. It's kinda slow and to get it back I would have to rely on other cards but I run Sidisi, Undead Vizier and other tutors so I can usually get what I need when I need it after a little set up. In mono black, getting a ton of mana usually isn't too hard with the altars and rituals so 5 colorless mana to get cards that are usually hard to get in mono black back to hand and on the field makes it easier to recover from a board wipe or targeted removal 🤙🏽
@plain66772 жыл бұрын
Codex shredder, Yawgmoth’s Will, Ill-Gotten Gains and Xiahou Dun (a better Eternal witness in some ways) are other ways to replay Dawn of the Dead from the graveyard or return it to hand.

I remember drafting coldsnap back in the day. The guy who won that draft picked up like 4 Skred and just destroyed us with them. It wasn't until Kaldheim that I found out that you weren't supposed to be able to have 100% snow lands in a draft, only the snow lands that you drafted. I also ran this in a standard deck that featured stuffy doll and swans of bryn argoll. That one was a lot of fun.

Love the series. Introduces awesome cards that sometimes I have never heard of. Another interesting addition to the series could be a brief discussion of each card's flavor/art/set to kind of spice up the list. Could be interesting. I know I love hearing other people's takes on flavor.

I forgot about Soldevi Sage. Used to have 5 of them in the late 90s-2000. Wish I kept one for my Aesi Lands deck. Spellweaver Volute likes graveyard tutors like Entomb, Unmarked Grave, Vile Entomber, as well as draw/discard effects like Careful Study, Mental Discipline, Mesmeric Trance, Mind Over Matter, Faithless Looting, Fact or Fiction, Breakthrough, Desperate Ravings, Probe, and Ideas Unbound. Toss Enter the Infinite, In Garruk's Wake, Doomsday, or any big splashy sorcery into the bin and away you go.

Sigil Captain - If you run a token based strategy with Atraxa, using this and Orochi Hatchery is a great combo. Hatchery makes 1/1 snakes equal to it's charge counters, so with Atraxa in play and Sigil Captain, you get more tokens as time goes on, and the longer any one token stays in play, the stronger it gets.

These are some interesting picks. I have a flicker deck that Sky Hussar might fit well in, Skull of Orm is neat for off-color enchantment decks, I like Spring Cleaning because it's a board wipe in green.
@prob0942 жыл бұрын
I've had my eye on a few of these... I built Falco with the 'real the top card' theme (e.g. Counterbalance), so clash cards work there. And Spellweaver Volute works well in my Vega deck as it draws you a card every time you do it, and in theory Jadzi (I never put it into paper due to the stormy nature of it). I came across Splintering Wind when researching cards for my Esix deck, but like you I feel there must be potential there!

I'm aware I have an encyclopaedic knowledge of all the jank cards in the multiverse at this point but I was having a discussion with a friend I regularly play on spelltable with a couple of months back about Splintering wind... It's one of the cards he wants to break in some way, I suggested building a populate and donate deck giving the splinter tokens out to all your opponents could be fun and playing Yavimia to give them all the option to pay for the upkeep costs then just play a bunch of token hoser's like spreading plague or pestilence when they have like three or four of the annoying thing's... It's a sultai jank mages dream of a card with stuff like Puca's mischief! XD

So idk if you've featured this card before or not, but a card i found in my box of bulk that i think is cool in a "how did i not know this card existed?" Kind of way is Burn Away. Its an instant for 4 and a red that says it deals 6 damage to target creature, when that creature dies this turn, exile all cards from its controller's graveyard." I know there is far more effecient grave hate in the format and even in mono red, but 6 damage will kill most problem creatures and a kill spell that also hates on that players graveyard is really underrated and to my knowledge, is one of the only cards that does both of those things and at instant speed, no less.
@minu29102 жыл бұрын
Splintering Wind is a card I was thinking on using in my Abzan lifegain deck. That deck is focused around using cards like pestilence demon to deal one damage to all creatures or all players and to give me that much life. If I have a card out like Whip of Erebos or True Conviction, then splintering wind represents a huge amount of lifegain if the token dies.

Huh, Soldevi Sage has weird oracle text. It's just "Tap, Sacrifice two lands: Draw three cards, then discard one of them." So you have to discard one of the three cards drawn; you can't discard a different card already in hand. That feels awkward (memory/trust issues - haha!)

It’s always fun seeing obscure cards, but these are all stretches for the 99 in most decks. My Kykar deck got excited for the Hussar for a moment until I read closer. Once per turn, only during upkeep. That’s terrible. That timing makes it the worst top deck of all time. It’s like the spell/ability version of a tapped land.
