I love mine, but have found 3 quite major flaws with my unit. That no one else has mentioned. I’ve had them for nearly 2 months now. 1 is a Bluetooth volume input fault. So when connected to Bluetooth all audio is rooted through Bluetooth even if your not using bluetooth mode (stupid). So if I plug my iPad into the optical or usb port I can’t use the app as the remote control(it’s only real function) as when connected to Bluetooth you can’t play through the usb or optical. To get around the problem I tried connecting the Bluetooth app to my phone (to use my phone as the controller)while using optical on my iPad. The major fault is,…if I accidentally press play on the phone while it’s connected to my iPad optically (or usb) it causes a fault that instantly increases the volume to maximum causing a loud popping sound and sore ears and scrambling to turn them back down. Remember these speakers are 512w peak and 256w rms! It doesn’t change input to Bluetooth it just maximises the speaker volume while in optical or usb. It can also happen when swapping through the inputs while it’s connected to Bluetooth. Again, It doesn’t switch to Bluetooth to play the audio it remains on optical or usb and just rockets the volume to maximum (instantly) on the speakers and nearly blows the speakers. This fault has caused me to delete the app and forget the speakers on Bluetooth. It happened about 6 or 7 times before I figured it out. I now use a WiiM WiFi streamer instead(brilliant sounds much better than Bluetooth highly recommend). I’m still worried it might’ve caused some permanent damage. The second major fault I’ve just found is,…that when using the optical connection into the internal DAC I can’t play any files (tried 3 different streaming services and downloads) at 88.2khz, all other sample rates play but not 88.2khz. Though, the same 88.2khz files and sample rates do play through USB and Bluetooth. I haven’t been able to test the Coax input as I’d have to buy extra equipment. And possibly a 3rd fault, I’ve noticed some sparking when turning the amps on/off. Both my speakers do it. I disconnect from power and move my speakers and stands when they’re not in use so I’ve noticed it more than most people probably would. I think I need to have a chat with EDIFIER and see what they have to say about it! Other than this and needing to up the mids slightly with an EQ (I like the one on the WiiM) I still love them and think they are great speakers. All the best guys!

How does the sound compare to the original S3000 Pro?
@DarkBlade05
@DarkBlade05 3 ай бұрын
I have an Edifier S3000 Pro and I haven't heard the MKII yet. I think the difference in sound will be none to unnoticeable. Nothing has changed with the specs. Maybe some internal hardware changes and improved software. That's all. The only thing that could be considered an improvement is the display and the ability to connect via an app.

@@photoshopaction7418 Bass and clarity on S3000MKII is superb. Dynamic mode makes them more v curved but classic is a much better Classic Hifi sound. Also I just use the EQ on my WiiM streamer and increase just the mids by 2-3db and then even on Dynamic it sounds superb.

Great Video, I was just wondering. The Bluetooth Version you mention is 5.3, but on the official website its written 5.0. Any insight on what it truly is? Thanks alot.

I got mine yesterday, all documentation and the box says Bluetooth 5.0. It says its Bluetooth can support APTX HD and 24bit and 48khz. Though some documentation says specs could be higher than specified due to performance and upgrade purposes. So super vague. Personally, i think there is a big step up in audio quality when using a wired connection. (Although, I’m using apple devices some of which might not support APTX HD). I would personally recommend just getting a usba-usbc etc adapter and using the provided usb cable to connect with your phone etc, especially if listening to lossless or hi res lossless. That way you’ll use the systems built in usb DAC, which will not be compressed like the Bluetooth, and it allows a much higher sample rate of up to 192khz (Again some documentation hints of being capable of even higher sample rates). Also, you’ll be able to control the media player on your device from the edifiers remote control. I like to use a usb to optical adapter. I think it definitely makes a good sound difference compared to usb on my devices and is worth the upgrade and my devices read it differently to usb (but ymmv). However that’ll set you back as much as around $50 extra for a decent one. You also loose the ability to control the media player with the EDIFIER’s remote. I know you didn’t ask me, but I hope it helps!

Any other speakers you recommend in this under $1,000SGD range (Singapore/Malaysia)? Don't find much compelling options in our area. Read on a Reddit thread about the "single point of failure for the S3000, and dead-end upgrade path," but I have no idea what's that about

I love my s2000mkiii's in my office and I'm thinking about these for my main system. But how are they at low volumes?
@aj8ky
@aj8ky 11 күн бұрын
They are good but everything feels more dynamic and responsive with more details the louder you go. Lower volume performance seems to be increased if you boost the mid ranges a couple dbs with an EQ. That being said they are very loud and have twice the power of s2000mkiii’s. I often find volume 15(out of 50) to be a good volume for everyday listening. Not sure my neighbours would agree though, they’re pretty loud. Especially on tidal with correct volume settings.

Redesigned remote control (better button layout),it saves the last used volume (as long as it was between 10 and 40 out of 50) and DSP setting, a bigger screen, a (crappy and dangerous) Bluetooth app, a customisable DSP profile, and some owners of both say it’s tuned to be more bass heavy than the pros and all the advertising has switched to bass centric themes. The booklet states the same hardware specs as before but states that “specs may be higher than listed for upgrade and performance purposes”.

I've bought s2000 mkiii for the 3d time now and finally came to understanding this is a perfect model for me so far, even though they're somewhat overpriced. I also used to have s3000 pro, but due to their V-curve sound I couldn't enjoy them at all. So, I'm wondering what the s3000 mkii sounds like, however I suppose it's just like s3000 pro.

I have plenty of Edifier speakers on my collection, R1380db, R1700bts, MR4, S2000mkiii, R2850db... So far, R2850db serve me best, it has fairly neutral sound signature, good separation and imaging, bass can go quite deep too. Most importantly, it is not a V shape sound signature. Recently, I added a Edifier T5 to pair with them, setting the LPF to 90hz. It gives the R2850 extra ohm on the low end, it is perfect now😊

I have S3000MKII’s and I’ve found that the Classic DSP is less v-curved than the Dynamic DSP, but if I use the EQ on the WiiM and just increase the mids only by 2-3db, even in dynamic mode,… they sound so much clearer and more detailed in the mids. It really dampens the vcurve a lot and they now sound superb to me with greater clarity across the range.

@@29mariusiosif you could buy an hdmi (about $20-50) audio extractor. Then you could use that to feed your device by hdmi into it, then convert the signal out into either optical or coaxial output, then connect into the optical or coax input port of the speakers or an external Dac. Now you’ve converted hdmi signal into an optical or coaxial signal the speakers can understand. Hopefully that helps!
