I just found out about the Saturn port of Primal Rage’s “mirror match mode” having full frame animation, and I kinda wanted to look into a 4MB hack to enable it across two different characters. Didn’t know where to start, so I’m looking forward to this episode.

On top of reverse engineering ADX, I wish to see the internal YMF292 chip implemented in Furnace Tracker and useable in Jo Engine.

42:45 WHAT GAME CHANGER MALENKING also yes I just use CrystalTile to pull out graphics, work on them elsewhere (usually MS Paint), then put 'em back into CrystalTile

the only problem personally i dont like the about the saturn is it uses warped quads and forground vdp1 chip lacks full lighting/luminosity and transpericies. Which the 3do (even though this console is underpowered) and ps1 do not lack. Also, the sega rally development team had knowledge of programming arcade boards. This experience helped them create a near arcade port of sega rally. The saturn was the first arcade like hardware to be released in the home gaming consoles. Gaming developers were use to previous generation. Ie 3rd and 4th gen consoles. Plus, had to deal with time contraints and deadlines.

VDP1 has the ability to do lighting with Gouraud shading and flat shading, 3DO only has flat shading. VDP1 can also do 50/50 blending for transparencies. There's just caveats to using it. And no, the Sega Rally team didn't have knowlege of programming arcade boards. Go watch Pandamoniums documentary. The Team behind the Saturn port was mostly new people with little to no experience making games. Only a few people from the arcade team were involved and they were in higher up director and supervisor positions, not programming positions.

I mean... I guess they took the sole experience of making Rally for the arcade going into the Saturn port (but that's all the arcade experience they had - Sega Rally)

I've been wondering for the past maybe 8-10 years that I've really gotten into Saturn (I missed the boat in the 90s because the SNES and N64 was too important to my feeble child brain), would it be impossible to find a small time of Saturn fans to "port" Street Fighter 3 (any version, not just 3rd Strike) to the Saturn? I would think at the least, you'd need the 4MB card or maybe someone in tandem create a new action replay card that holds 8MB (now I might be wishing too hard), to make that possible. I ask this because of the hardware specs of the CPS3 in comparison to the Saturn. I also think it "MIGHT" be possible to port Garou/The Last Blade. Maybe this sentiment is based on the Saturn version of Alpha 3 being considered better then the Dreamcast port but that could have been Capcom dropping the ball somewhere.
