The resurgence of WPV1 virus in Afghanistan and Pakistan is a grave concern as it will be difficult for them to eradicate the virus as targeted. More positive samples have been collected from historical reservoirs of the virus. It is also spreading in the environment. The virus has the possibility to spread internationally as Afgan refugees have been said to leave the country making the situation more vulnerable in Afghanistan since less number of children are immunized in Southern Afghanistan. 1- Wild-type poliovirus type-1 (WPV1) has spread out in Afghanistan and Pakistan since 2022 and it has become tougher to curb it. 2- Recently, reports of infection resurgence have reflected that polio campaign is not really working. 3- There is a risk of cross border spread of virus as around 1.3 million refugees will be forced to leave from Pakistan.

9/9 The endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan though small in number but if not over looked properly can pose a threat to other countries,where the population is not immunised in large numbers. It can lead to geopolitical tention too affecting economy of developing and underdeveloping countries. The government has to be stringent over the case and should take necessary initiative to curb the growth of WPA1.

The wpvi has grown in endemic region particularly in Pakistan and afghanistan, it's a sign of resurgence since 2023 . Most of people are immunised. Despite that people are grave about spreading of wpvi , they are moving to other places. Government should take grave steps in order to curb virus 😷 .

It has been grave concern for many countries about WPV1 cases, which appeared in Pakistan and Afganistan. Many refugees, who is travelling from epidemic areas , have to be restrict for entering any other counties. The fake finger marks are exacerbating the situations of Pakistan and Afganistan. Their govt have not to be aware of its ramifications. WHO have to take an action on it.

However the govts and authorities of both these countries have no such affection with their people as seen in the past and it is the people who suffers at end. Wild type Poliovirus type 1(WPV1) is showing sign of resurgency in 2024 after 2 years, mainly in Pakistan and Afghanistan. A total of six cases reported in two countries each in 2023, while 2 in Afghanistan and 20 in Pakistan in 2022. The uptick in cases continues then the total cases being reported from the two countries might be close to or even surpass the 2022 numbers. The circulation of virus in environment seen to be rising and positive environmental samples have been increasingly collected in Pakistan which is not limited to children. All these shows that polio campaigns are not achieved their desired coverage , fake finger marking without vaccination is a persisting problem. There is a grave risk of international spread of virus from Pakistan because Afghan refugees forced to leave Pakistan and many more are soon to be evicted.

The Wild-type Poliovirus type-1 (WPV1) is native to Afghanistan and Pakistan. The cases of poliovirus has been increasing since 2023 which poses a significant risk that it cannot be completely eradicated by 2026. Pakistani cities had started with the immunisation process in full swing but a large portion is still under-immunised because of fake finger marking.
