In this episode of 'Editorial,' Mr. Sujit Nair delves into the resignation of Election Commissioner Arun Goel just ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Following the Union law ministry's announcement of Goel's resignation, Election Commission officials found themselves puzzled, especially considering the remaining three years of Goel's tenure and the expected elevation to the position of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in 2025.
According to information obtained from five officials interviewed by HT, it became apparent that Goel and CEC Rajiv Kumar had experienced differences, ranging from routine matters to more complex issues. However, these disagreements failed to provide a clear explanation for Goel's sudden decision to resign. Notably, a significant point of contention between them was the Election Commission's order on February 17, 2023, regarding the allocation of the Shiv Sena's party name and poll symbol to the Eknath Shinde faction based on legislative majority, as disclosed by four officials to HT.

Ashok Lavasa tried that, but ultimately had to bow down coz of IT raids on his relatives. Late TN Seshan's time was different where there was no harassment from the then ruling govt, but now even for someone like Late TN Seshan caliber would not be taking any chances against this present govt. This resignation is not so simple, as it conveniently appears to the godi media ! Is any foreign power interfering or blackmailing the. ECs or even the PMO ? Whatever it maybe including personal reasons,the matter should be a matter of huge National Security concerns and there needs to be an open Inquiry into the sudden development !

As usual, very informative. I have a question though. When Mr. Goel opted for VRS, did hw not give nitice as required? To my knowledge Government employees have to give 90 days notice and then only it has to be acceoted, provided all issues pertaining to hos swrvice are clear and clean. To say that even his minister didnt know is very surprising. And to apply for VRS on one day and be acceoted the next day plus with new appointment samw day...is like SC said lightening speed indeed. Therw is also another rule that those who opt for VRS cannot accept a paid government job for a period of 2 years. Wo unless the EC was a cotractual employee again it is flouting of another rule. What really happened to cause such a tearing hurry? And less than 4 months later he resigns, again without informing his boss.. So like in November, he must be knowing something is in the offing....like an election ticket perhaps? Laughable but strange things are happening in our country...

Sir, whoever has been appointed as ELECTION COMMISSIONERS, it should be acceptable to all. Therefore, the names of all candidates picked up should should be circulated to all CHIEF MINISTERS giving 3 days for recommendation then the list goes for recommendation of Opposition Leader, then to PM and the last to CJI for final decision so that ot has the approval of all states too .

Chances are the SBI will present the data in two silos (meaning isolate system, process, department, from others). The Court, ECI and us will then have to figure out the content, scratching our heads !

Once the data is public, there experts in Data analysis in all who will get to it. I am sure there will be some feature or ID used to identify the correct bonds are encashed by the intended party. The advocate was trying to complicate and confuse the Judges, which did not work.😅

Its common sense that the Election commission will be selected by the 3 pillars of democracy ..loksabha, executive( Government) and judiciary. The present parliament members belonging to both ruling party and opposition were in hand and glove to pass such an unconstitutional bill. Opposition did not resist the bill like in case of other bills which they oppose by going Speaker's podium, burning the bill papers or even point of order to call for a discussion. Unfortunately the President of India also was silent and did not send it back for a review again. It appears to me this will be the first nail in the coffin of our democracy

Funny interpretation, complex question answers are always logical & simple... 🤷🏼‍♀️ SC asked to submit the electrol bonds info to EC by end of 12th March 2024 & EC need to make the data public by 15th March 2024...if there is no head at EC, who will take responsibility to release the data.. Later once EC appointed thy will say busy with election duty will validate & publish it at later date... 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ The electrol bond issue is put in dustbin now.. 🤷🏼‍♀️

If a judge is included then his say shall be final. Appointment of higher position officers should be the responsibility of Executive, Govt or PM and oppn. . Leader knows these officers and his conduct in office and their integrity, You want politicise Mr Goyals resign. etc

I donot understand what point is being made by Nair. Election bond as per rules will not disclose the names of Donors and that is why persons like me donated. And this law was passed by the Govt who has majority. So how can the SC over rule the elected govt just to support disgruntled elements. More than this case the matter of freebies announced by political parties just before elections for catching votes should have been taken up and decided. But SC has no time for national interest.

Sir, Lekin aap ek baat likh kar rakh lijiye, EVM ke rahte huwey every expectation /analysis will fail. NDA ko 434 seat ki Landslide Victory hone wali hai. Yeh 434 seat ke liye 16 Lakh EVM (out of total 21 Lakh EVM) ki VVPAT Units and Control Units mein dhaandhli keliye pre-programming kar ke ready kiya gaya hai to use them in 434 constituencies across the country to get 434 seats for NDA. Yeh 16 Lakh EVM sets mein agar BJP/NDA ko bilkul hi vote nahi pade, phir bhi BJP/NDA will definitely win along with 100% matching of VVPAT papers WITH the vote count in Control Units AS WELL. It is because of SCAMMING software program already set in them. Such is the preparation already done by the BJP-EC-BEL-ECIL Gang of fraudsters. Now, the people of India have all fixed their eyes on the Supreme Court and are awaiting an honest VERDICT i.e. complete BANNING of the EVM. The reasons behind the resignation of Arun Goel are still not disclosed although he has stated as 'personal ground .' .The reason is not convincing to be the real reason there must be much more which he doesn't want to disclose. However, he should have boldly disclosed it by taking press conference in the present situation for the benefit of country men's and own so that the clouds of suspicious would never crept again .
