Megadeth on this album is: Dave Mustaine- vocals/guitar David Ellefson- bass guitar Marty Friedman- guitar Nick Menza- drums The lyrics are actually about two different subjects. The first half of the song is about holy wars, the obvious. The second half is actually about the Marvel comic book character The Punisher. The part where he's singing "they killed my wife and my baby" that's the "Punishment Due" part of the song. Also some of the lyrics at the end of that video were wrong. Dave Mustaine is the founder, leader, and primary songwriter for Megadeth. Prior to Megadeth he was an original member of Metallica in the early 80's. They kicked him out just before recording their first album, Kill Em All. Several early songs that Dave Mustaine wrote ended up being used on the first two Metallica albums.

@@cyrilfiggis7978 the story goes, prior to RIP he was holding a concert in Belfast and made some reference to the Troubles. He was booed off stage and they had a military escort to get out of town. So the first half of Holy Wars is in regards to that conflict. Hence the line, "Fools like me, cross the sea, and come to foreign lands." The Punishment Due is about the Marvel comic the Punisher.

I think Metallica often makes more emotionally complex songs, but if you just want a pure headbanging adrenaline trip on a car ride you always go Megadeth. For specific recommendations, anything from the same album as holy wars (Rust in Peace) will be amazing. Personally I highly recommend Tornado of Souls or Polaris. After that probably Symphony of destruction, Angry Again, and Sweating Bullets from other albums give a good feel for the band.

I've been a metalhead since about 1989 when I discovered Pantera. I used to jam on Megadeth and many other bands (metal and non metal). Still can play most of 'tornado of souls on rhythm guitar. Metal (and all its sub genres of any variety) was basically always 'underground'....disparaged...and scorned by mainstream society back then and still now but it's so nice to see that young people or anyone of any age who never knew about or heard such incredible bands are now finding out about them. I will tell you this: This whole album of Megadeths STILL to this day is among one of the best metal albums OF ALL TIME. It shows that when you make something with immense passion and vision you create something timeless.

If you like classic metal as well as edm, you’d probably dig some of the more modern metal bands that combine epic guitar riffs with slick percussion-driven production. There are a bazillion sub genres, but I’d day “As I Lay Dying - My Own Grave” is a solid example of mainstream metal that has classic heavy elements. Would be curious to see your reaction.

Dave Mustaine started Megadeth. He is the primary songwriter, he is also the one singing and playing lead guitar. They were popular but never to Metallica's level, which is a shame as they are a good band. It's also funny as Dave Mustaine helped shape Metallica's sound. He was in Metallica, but was kicked out of the band prior to the release of their first album, apparently he wasn't a pleasant person when drunk... But look at the music credits on Metallica's first album, and he is listed in the writing credits for several of the songs. Some people dislike his singling, or his lack of singing, as it's a more spoken'ish style for a lot of his stuff. I don't mind it at all. Megadeth has many great songs, I am partial to Peace Sells, and my fiance she likes Angry Again a good deal. Dave has been fighting throat cancer, limiting his ability to perform. He got a clean bill of health not long back, and hopefully it stays that way.

Always expect the unexpected when it comes to metal. ESPECIALLY if you’re new to the genre. You will hear sounds you’ve never heard....it will AND SHOULD quickly take over your way of how music can be played and how much better metal is compared to all others lol. It takes actual talent refined over many years. See, it’s far more impressive to be able to learn the ways of metal. That means the time and effort it takes to conquer what a guitar, the drums, and vocals can become. Compared to someone who was born with the talent of singing and having a great voice. Yes singing for most is hard....say maybe only 1 out of 100 people can actually sing very well, compared to maybe 1 out of many thousands of people who can play the guitar and/or drums well. Also, being able to do vocals WHILE PLAYING the guitar or drums or base or any instrument really. That’s why metal fans feel metal is so much better than all other genres except maybe conducting an orchestra or something lol. It’s a true test of musical skill and hard work compared to something like pop music or rap which doesn’t hardly take any skill whatsoever. It’s so low on the musical skill level of a guitar player or drummer, it doesn’t even register with most of us. At least I know that’s how I feel. 🤷🏻‍♂️ good luck with the rest of your metal journey, it’s never ending 🤘🏼

The boy likes Thrash! Overkill - Ironbound. Not one of the bands you'll get lots of requests for, but they're awesome. Mostly at this pace too

Please do "Tool - Lateralus"! It's an amazing song based on the mathematical Fibonacci sequence... from the syllables used to the bar timing, to even the split second the vocals come in. It's a masterpiece. Like most Tool songs really @.@. Honestly I get a little annoyed having to rate most of their songs 10/10 masterpieces on an objective technical level.
