I firmly believe if katniss and rue made it to the end katniss would have sacrificed herself for her

There’s a deleted scene where District 11 sends Katniss a sponsor of Bread out of gratitude for her kindness of Rue. I wish they kept it in, because it’s the first time that any District had sent a sponsor to a tribute that wasn’t their own. Really shows the impact Katniss is having on the districts.

I don't know if anyone had mensioned it yet. But when Katniss misses that shot in front of the jury, is because she has never used a "perfect", manufactured bow. She has only used imperfect bows where she had to adjust her aiming a certain way, which she was used to. After the first miss, she adjusted to how that bow worked and made a perfect hit the 2nd time.

On thing that isn’t as obvious in the movie is Cinna looking out for her after the games as well. He did everything he did before the games to give her her best chance at getting sponsors and surviving, and after the game he knew what she’d done was dangerous. So he designed frilly dresses for her like the one she wore at the after interview and kept her dresses and makeup in soft pastel shades to make her look younger and more innocent. All to help her sell the image of harmless lovestruck teenager to protect her. I think he saw the system for the horror it was but became a stylist for the games to do whatever good he could with his talents instead of just clothing the rich and pampered.

I think Cinna's kiss was from a father figure to a child about to be sacrificed. Even if she won, she was about to go through hell. Kids even older teens might play it tough but we all know we'd want a big hug & kiss to comfort us before such a fate.

if you watch closely, peeta actually uses his finger to mark catos hand. so he knew she would shoot there.

For the scene in the cave: Peeta was. In fact, NOT playing the game. he was being sincere. Katniss was the one playing the game to survive for her family.

When you said they're really using the water hose on them... I'm Native American and about 6-7 years ago a bunch of tribes from different states gathered at Standing Rock reservation to protest an oil pipeline they were trying to run thru the reservation. All of the tribes protesting camped at the area which lasted for at least 2 months if I remember correctly...anyway once it got into to winter months they actually brought out the water trucks and started to hose down the protesters in freezing in the negative degree weather because this happened in North Dakota.

Not a Spoiler just and explanation from the book: ( 16:43 ) The reason Katniss missed the first shot is because she was used to using a wooden bow and arrow. She had to get used to a metal bow and arrow which felt very different the first time she tried. I think she didn't practice with it till then because she didn't want the other contestants to know she could use a bow so well. That way they wouldn't plan to target her from jump and they would know which weapons to keep from her.

So Haymitch won the 50th Hunger Games..the 2nd Quarter Quell (its not really explained in the movies) and that Hunger Games had double reapings from each district so instead of just 2 (1 boy and 1 girl) it was 4 (2 boys and 2 girls)...not only has he endured WINNING that game with the ptsd of it but hes also endured 24 years of watching tributes from District 12 basically being sent to slaughter

Next fact ✌🏻the reason Rue knew how to treat trackerjacker stings is because the type of leaf she used is something that District 11 (orchard workers) always grow & carry on them to treat venomous insect bites; D11 workers presumably are stung by the wasps the trackerjackers are engineered from. I think Katniss use it in the book later on in the Games for drawing infection out of a wound that Peeta got from Cato.

One thing that they didn’t put in the movie, but it was important on the book: - That “super dogs” on the end, were made in the same color of the hair of the tributes and had their eyes… It was a creepy thing, like it was their body transformed into a monster. Katniss suffered seeing Rue like that… - Cato suffered the whole night till the sunrise arrived, bc the monsters were just torturing, not killing. Katniss kill him in the end from pity.

the scene with peeta throwing the bread in the rain is way more fleshed out in the book. if i recall right at that time katniss’ father had passed away recently and she hadn’t ever gone hunting on her own. her family was starving like they hadn’t eaten in days they were consuming “soup” which was just boiled leaves. her mother is not being a mother because of the grief. katniss sits down in the rain after not being able to sell anymore of their things (including prims baby clothes) for food and she feels so sick and considers just not getting up and dying. peeta comes out after burning the bread (and his mom beating him for it) and tosses it to her. the bread was warmed again to dry it out and she put together a dinner with it and it gave her hope again. the next day she went out to the woods and started hunting for her family and it became the way they put food on the table and made any income. katniss is so resilient and strong, she as a child would hunt to put food in her sisters mouth, but it was peeta and his kindness (in the face of abuse from his mom) that pushed her to try when she wanted to die. katniss feels ashamed when she sees peeta like he looks down on her especially because now he has to presumably kill or outlive her, he may see her as the starving girl he had to save.

The reason Gale messes up her shot on the deer is because (in the books) they point out how they don't have the ability to hide a whole deer, store it, etc. and if they were to sell it they would be caught for illegal activity by the Peacekeepers, they hunt in areas that are meant to be no access. The other logical point from a hunters POV is that if they leave the deer or buck out there, it can breed and hopfully give them more to hunt, and if they kill it and leave meat that they can't carry/utilise behind, it can attract predators that might damage the hunting area.

I've said this in the past, but it's always true: Donald Sutherland makes a really good villain as President Snow. It's kind of the same paradox with Imelda Staunton/Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter: a delightful actor playing such a vile, despicable character.

Please watch the rest of the movies! I need your reactions, you guys had me dying. I love all these movies! Some of my favorites. Also Peetas feelings for Katniss were real. The whole time hes trying to do whatever it takes for her to win. Gale and Katniss are just childhood friends, gale is the only one that realizes he has feelings for her when she goes in. Her feeling for him are more sibling friendship but she feels like she shouldn’t hurt his feelings because he’s always been there for her. Peeta and the bread scene is when Katniss lost her dad and the family was near dying from starvation, Peeta saw Katniss get caught and yelled at by his mom in their trash and so he decided to purposely burn the bread to throw to her, he knows he’ll get a beating and he does. Peeta represents light and kindness during a really dark time in her life .

One thing you should know from the books is that the guy they threw to the dogs actually volunteered to be in the games. Some districts have a system where kids train for years and then volunteer when they’re 18 in order to give their district a better chance of winning. The district that the winning tribute comes from gets extra food for the next year. So when you said you’d show the guy mercy after the dogs got him because he didn’t ask to be in this situation, he actually did volunteer for the games.

In the book, the dogs are chasing Cato and he runs right past Katniss and Peeta to get to the Cornucopia * it also took hours for her to get access to another arrow so she could put Cato out of his misery because he had been sent armor by a sponsor and therefore the dogs were attacking him for ages

Peeta lost his leg as a result of his injuries in the games, but that is left out of the movie. Being an amputee has an impact on his abilities and how people view him later on. Just something to remember if you see him struggling or people worrying about him!

45:16 The theory is that Foxface deliberately ate the poison berries. At this stage, it's only Katniss, Peeta, Thresh (District 11), and Cato (District 2). She probably knew she couldn't beat them, and we saw how good she was with identifying the plants in the training period. Sad.

The reason these tributes are so complacent with going along with the games is because they don’t just punish the tribute if they decide to rebel, they also punish the tributes family. Even if a tribute kills them self in the capital or in the arena, the capital will punish the family.

The first ever BATTLE ROYALE style game was actually a game mode in Minecraft called "Hunger Games". That started to evolve and then other game developers used the Battle Royale idea from Minecraft. So yes, in a way Fortnite did get the idea from this series but not directly from it.

When I first read these books, I was picturing Lady Gaga as Effie Trinket, lol.

Rewatched this series recently and the premise hits harder the older you get. I don't have kids yet but I've worked in education for several years now and the concept of kids being made to kill each other is a massive gut punch. It's a great story but I can't make it through the movies without crying I'd recommend Maze Runner too after you finish this but I'd suggest taking a break and watching something more lighthearted first. It's good and I can tell you guys would especially enjoy the first movie, but it's almost as depressing as this 😭 Maybe react to a comedy before that lol

About the last guy (Little Hercules), he and the group he teamed up with DID ask for it. He was from district 2. The first few districts (I think up until 4) have tons of volunteers every year. They have special schools that have kids training for the games from the time they are extremely small , and they condition them to be okay with killing and be good at it. They aren't as rich as the capital, but are way richer than the rest of the districts because they suck up to the capital.

Katniss missed the first shot at the training center because the bow she has at home is homemade and made out of wood, the bow at the training center was top notch and it only took her 1 shot to adjust to a bow she’s never used before. That’s skill. YOU don’t have to kill the other person from your district (most don’t) it’s just as long as there’s only 1 survivor. Peeta only teamed up with the “careers “ so that he would KNOW where they are and lead them to katniss so he could help her AND so katniss could get the bow from the girl. Peeta really has been in love with katniss since they were kids. The fact that you knew Caesars wig is called a lace front wig makes me think someone watches RPDR. Great reactions!

Hey guys, I saw u were starting the Hunger Games. & thought "I got to see this." because I've been really enjoying your Harry Potter reactions. Just to let u know, Katniss & Gale aren't together. He is her best friend & hunting buddy although he wants more. He hinted @ it while out hunting before the Reaping. O, let me tell u guys Katniss is 16yrs old, Peeta is 15/16 & Gale is 18 in this movie. It was Gale's last Reapping. Peeta is actually in love w/Katniss. Katniss doesn't know how she feels about either one. A lot of her cuddling up to Peeta was just for show. But, while she & Peeta were in the cave after 1 of their kisses, she feels something for him, yet pushes it away because she's focusing on surviving & telling herself "It's just for show.".Those mega-"pitbulls" were genetic mutations or MUTTS created by using the DNA & eyes of the fallen tributes. In the book, Katniss was afraid of seeing Rue's eyes looking @ her from 1 of those monsters. @ the end right before the winners interview, Haymitch was voicing his concern about Katniss showing up the Capitol. He was genuine in his fear for her. Because when the Capitol thought he showed them up in his Hunger Games, they murdered his whole family & girlfriend. That, on top of sending kids to die year after year for 23yrs made him an alcoholic. U know, some of the craziness u 2 talk gets me laughing.😊 Anyway, great reaction guys. 26:30 Idk if it’s been commented already but the battle royale genre of video games like Fortnite actually comes from the Japanese book/movie “Battle Royale”. It’s pretty similar to the Hunger Games (although more violent in my opinion) as it involves kids having to fight to the death due to the government but I feel like it’s still pretty unique.

It's VERY close to the book, and the rollercoaster of emotional issues and action doesn't let up. It's so so good. Katniss is brave and tough but quite stupid lol. I love her, but Peeta is my favourite character from the series. The books make it a lot clearer how wonderful of a man he is, but it's still quite obvious in the movies, if you pay attention to his actions and clever countermoves. Gale is a wet lettuce, f*ck that dude 😂

There’s so much background stuff to say which I meant to comment right after I watched and I forgot most of it lol. One thing I was gonna say is Peeta was far more injured in his leg, the special medication he received did not completely cure him, it was more to fight the infection and keep down his fever that completely heal the wound up (in the books) and he had blood poisoning in the wound. They had to amputate his leg after and he has a prosthetic leg the rest of the story which they did not include in the movies. Also, the tributes from the districts closest to the capital, the richest districts, are called careers. Because they essentially make a career of training for their games till they are 18 and then volunteering. They are from districts 1,2 and 4, they usually team up and are more ruthless and callous. You heard them joking about killing people in this movie etc. It was discussed in the film but I wasn’t sure if you heard. Love the videos guys!!! These are great films that really draw out a lot of real emotion and questions about morality!!!

Oh feel like ages ago when I watched this. It was date night, my boys invited me because there was this girl that didn't got along with the rest of them. So me being older and more "serious" I was ideal. I wasn't exactly sure they were setting my up, lol. Anyways this movie was fresh, I remember the girl sat in the next row with her sister. she said to her sister she had cold so one of my friends suggested I gave her my jacket. Real homies, man. I didn't appreciated them enough. After the night she sent my cousin to tell me she wanted my bb pin number. The next day we started hitting if off through blackberry messenger. We lasted for 9 years of relationship. And 10 years of friendship. At the end of 2021 she told me she wanted to end it finally. And in March of 2022 we moved our own separate ways. It's been almost two years and still haunts me somehow. But I'm recovering better, little by little. Everytime I think about this movie, I think about our first encounter. I was akward af. Zero game. She and my friends made everything to put us together. And she caved in, she saw something. Young stupid love to be honest. But in our little town people with our tastes, hobbies and quirkyness is put to death early. So we felt like outcasts and bonded over that. It's funny this movie was the beginning of me eventually ending up with her, living together, like a married couple, sharing bed for 7 years,,,
