This poem was in my “poem a day” collection for today, and after reading the note about how wonderful her voice was I just had to hear the poem from the author herself! One of the better poems I’ve had in the book in a couple weeks, I must read more of her poetry.

I think you have recorded the first two lines twice because Millay did not repeat them. I have a recording of this in a poetry compilation on CD.

Pound admired Millay until he thought her resonance with the public might set the direction of poetry away from his patchwork imagism.
