Yeah they are putting out some quality casks between their OBs, Signatory, and Van Wees The Ultimate bottlings. There are constant new heavily sherried casks hitting the market. I think a lot of people are switching over from Glendronach to Edradour and Glenallachie. Both offer great quality, value, and the NCF / natural color presentation. Edradour has the ability to balance distillery character with the heavy cask influence some how. It does have some interesting "funk" and earthy notes too. Cheers!

I love Edradour, I feel like it's distillate is strong enough to hold up to the heavy sherry influence whilst still being able to show its own character. Personally my favorite distiller. Thnaks for the review, another bottle I need to track down!

Nice review😀 I have opened a vintage 2009/ cask 356 of this Signatory bottling a couple of weeks ago. My notes are almost identical to yours. I bought my bottle around this time last year and paid the equivalent of roughly 66 CAD by today's exchange rates. Meanwhile the vintage 2010 bottles have arrived on our market but at higher prices. Now a bottle of this Edradour costs roughly 74-75 CAD where I live. Still good value.

Edradour def has access to some great sherry casks. Some of their bottles take the sherry a little too far but overall underrated distillery that more and more regular whisky drinkers will start hearing about soon.

Definitely a heavy sherry profile that sometimes limits complexity.

For me it beat any of the Glenallachie expressions I have tried and the old style Glendronach 18. Just bought 2 more bottles to stock up on, I agree their casking is excellent, and their greasy distilate lends perfectly to first fill sherry at a young-ish age. Always enjoy watching your videos, even though I'll never get to try half of the whiskies you drink xD.

Another way signatory educates scotch drinkers is when you compare non-colored versus colored scotches. And sometimes the color difference is very pronounced. That is when you compare Scott from the same distilleries.

This is my go-to, when I'm in the mood for a full-on sherry fruit bomb. Up to now I had three different casks - all of them were great.

Edradour is one of my favorite distilleries! I always have a bottle of the 10yr@46%, I am sad to say we never get the Ibisco Decanter bottles so I haven't tried it yet, but we get a bunch of great special bottlings for our liquor store here that I love, including a 10yr CS "very dark sherry" as it is labeled in the store, which looks even a shade darker than your 10, coming in at 57.7% Cheers!

Nice :) I got mine signatory edradour yesterday for the first time for 65euro in Slovakia 😊I have a cask no 187.. only one tasteing yesterday .. Its so bold on me 😀 I am new in whisky but ist nice.. need more experience and I get like dark jam,dried plums on the nose. On taste more coffe bitterness and raisins

Have never had this one in particular but I really like Edradour! There's a place near me that always has a healthy selection of Signatory independent bottlings and they do great work generally. It makes sense that they would knock it out of the park with a distillery they own themselves so I'll have to be on the lookout for this one. Extra points for sounding like a Tolkien land?

I just got the new Glenallachie 10 CS batch 5 for $75 a few days ago. Too bad that bottle of Edradour 10 isn't yours. I have passed on it here because it always has a higher cost than the Caledonia and it doesn't make any since. The Signatory cannister is not much more expensive and that is why I have bought that . I would like to have a cannister of the bourbon cask some day

So many MONSTER(young) single-cask Edradours on the market right now! Makes you wonder what the future holds for such a tiny distillery... EDIT: I've got #390 and #394. They're both similarly amazing.

A more direct comparison would be the caledonia Its 12 years old all sherry cask and at 46% It's also unchillfitered and natural color

@@charlesashworth6805 Caledonia is matured 8-8.5 years in ex-bourbon casks and the rest 3.5-4 years in ex-sherry casks. Personally I like the 12 yo Caledonia a tad better than the 10 yo Unchillfiltered from Signatory. Caledonia is a little more complex and interesting. All in all, both are instant buy if the price is right.

@@charlesashworth6805 Well, I didn't realize it either, I have read it or seen it in a video review. The finish is obviously done in very active casks for around 4 years. It is virtualy a second maturation. I doubt even experienced taster would pick the ex-bourbon cask influence. The tell that it is not full term sherry matured may be the fresh winy, fruity notes and almost complete lack of coffee/dark chokolate notes. I get just powdered cocoa in the finish.
